MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
.
We have reached the end of September and I am pleased to say that we have suffered from very little disruption to our provision due to Coronavirus. This week we introduced a firmer line on the use of face coverings/masks around the Academy and I have been pleased with the response from students. Where it is less successful it is generally because a student has lost or broken their face mask - particularly the single use ones. We are unable to provide face coverings/masks in school so please make sure your child has a spare one with them each day.
As the weather is taking a turn for the worse please can I remind students and parents to wear appropriate clothing for the weather. This morning I was welcoming the students in at the front gate in the pouring rain and I would say that only half of the students were wearing a coat, by the time they got into school many were soaking wet already. As you know we have had to change the structure of our school day and this means that students will have to be outdoors for longer periods of time than normal so having a warm and waterproof coat and or umbrella will be important as the weather deteriorates. We do have some limited indoor space and will soon have a large shelter on the English playground, but in the meantime please encourage your children to wear coats!
Jim Parker, Principal.
I HEARD A WISPA
No, it’s not a spelling error, but an opportunity for Students to earn a certificate and a Wispa chocolate bar! Heads of Faculty can make nominations for the “I Heard a Wispa'' certificates, to continue praise received from classroom teachers.
The certificates, along with a bar of chocolate, are delivered to students in one of their lessons by a member of the Leadership Team. Here are the last three weeks WINNERS!
LORD GREY'S GOT TALENT
This year we are going virtual with our annual Talent Show. Students must send in their videos by the 9th of October from a parent's email along with a message from the parent saying that they agree for their child to be involved.
The finalists will be asked to record their performances in school and these videos will be sent to tutors. Tutor groups will then spend a series of tutor times watching the performances and voting as a form.
NEWS FROM LORENZ
Lorenz are pleased to say that they are again supporting Young Carers MK and also Harry's Rainbow. Both are amazing local charities that continuously support our community.
If you feel you need their help, then please contact them or if you feel you could kindly donate any spare pennies, then please can they be brought into school and donate to our desktop charity boxes in Hub 1. Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Bowen, Head of Lorenz House.

News from sixth form
It was a great opportunity to raise money for Macmillan. Everyone in the sixth form and staff were very generous. We were extremely pleased to raise over £140 for this amazing charity and would like to thank everyone that took part.
