Welcome to Minet!
We wish to say a special welcome to all the new families that have joined us this January. Thank you for attending the Nursery induction meeting - we hope it answered lots of your questions. We are so pleased to report that your children have settled well and are enjoying exploring their new surroundings.
Well done to all the existing Nursery children who have helped our new children to feel so welcome. Don't forget to read further details of our Nursery Learning in our Spring Curriculum Newsletter.
Reception Maths Workshop
We would like to thank all the parents who attended our workshop as they were a great success. We value your support as we help our children understand the basic mathematical concepts needed to be numerate and confident with number.
During these workshops we explored practical activities that parents could use at home with their children as well as discussing how we teach in school.
The school are really pushing my children to do well, there's a difference since my son was here, this is really good
This is good because my daughter doesn't tell me what she does at school, so I can see how I can help.
Year 2 SATs workshop
This month our Year Two parents took part in a SATs workshop which was a huge success. The children were able to demonstrate their reading comprehension skills and their mathematical reasoning to their parents and carers.
The session allowed parents to go through different types of SATs questions and they were given support on how they can support their children at home.
Amazing Art in Year One
Year One are learning about artists from around the United Kingdom as part of their topic 'Where can we go in the United Kingdom?
So far they have made sugar cube sculptures in the style of Brendan Jamison, a sculptor from Northern Ireland.
We also learnt about the British artist Marc Quinn and the children were excited to be using bread dough to sculpt their hands using some simple sculpting tools.
We have now received our Silver Award banner from UNICEF and we are extremely proud to have it on display outside our school! Our Assembly this month was about Martin Luther King and how he helped to make the world fair for all children.
Article 2: All children have these rights, no matter who they are, where they live, what their parents do, what their religion is, whether they are a boy or girl, what their culture is, whether they have a disability, whether they are rich or poor. No child should be treated unfairly on any basis
