Low Birth Weight Birth defects: Breanna Elliott

What is low birth weight? Babies who are born weighting less than 2,500 grams (5 pounds, 8 ounces).
TREATMENT: 1- care in the neonatal intensive care unit. 2- temperature-controlled bed. 3- Special feeding.
PREVENTION: 1- follow a healthy diet during pregnancy. This will help you gain enough weight to help your baby grow and help you stay healthy. 2- don't drink alcohol, smoke or use any other drugs.
Support groups that are available? 1.Therapeutic daycare 2. Assistance for pregnant mothers and their families 3. Teen parenting assistance program 4. Parent education programs 5. Mental health services.
This Disability is Congenital because it affects the heart.
