SOCCER LAST WEEK
The Lyons went 1-1-0 last week, shouldering a tough loss at Wesleyan before besting NEWMAC-rival, Wellesley by a 1-0 margin at home to close out the week. Senior Alex Kenoian recorded the goal for the Lyons, while goalies Amanda Manaster (16 saves) and Maria-Lucia Delgado (8 saves) combined for 24 saves.
TENNIS LAST WEEK
In its second straight appearance, the Lyons' tennis team won the Flight A final and reached the Flight C final to total 12 points and capture the 2018 Grass Court Doubles Championships hosted by Salve Regina University at the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport. With over 50 different players in the field, the Lyons earned a combined 12 points to earn the team victory.
GOLF last week
The Lyons earned eighth overall last week, hosting their own MHC Invitational at The Orchards Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday. MHC was led by rookie Cortney Qiu, who notched a 78 on day two. Combined with her opening round of 80, she shot a 158 total which was good for 14th place in the field.
RIDING OPENS 2018 SCHEDULE
Under the direction of longtime head coach CJ Law, the Mount Holyoke riding team opens its season on Saturday at the Smith College Show. The Lyons look to continue its success from last season, which saw the squad win its region, capture the Zone 1 Championship, while finishing seventh overall at the IHSA National Championships. The Lyons welcome back a number of athletes to the fall roster, including sophomore Sara Hearn, who was the 2018 IHSA National Champion in Collegiate Cup Intermediate Equitation Over Fences.
ROWING OPENS FALL SEASON
Led by second-year head coach, Seth Hussey, the Mount Holyoke College rowing team is set to open its 2018-19 schedule on Sunday at the 2018 Green Mountain Head Regatta. Last season, the Lyons had a number of solid efforts, including fourth at Seven Sisters and sixth at the NEWMAC Championship.
