"My Confirmation Saint: Santa Rosa de Lima" By: alexandra velez

This saint was born under the name "Isabel Flores de Olivia" but changed her name to Rose at her confirmation in 1597.

She was born in 1597 and died on August 25, 1617.

She was beatified as the patron of Lima and canonized as the patron saint of all of South America and the Phillippines. Her feast day is celebrated on August 23. It used to be on August 30th, and some countries(like Peru) still celebrate on that day.

She picked the name Rose because people often called her Rose due to her immense beauty. She one day had a vision of her face turning into a rose. Saint Rose of Lima was so beautiful that one day she rubbed pepper on her face and cut her hair to repel male suitors, so legend says.
