Promise of a Fruitful Life

John 15:5 - "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit." (NIV)

God has promised you a life of fruitfulness... a life of abundant, lasting fruitfulness.

John 15:16 says, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit–fruit that will last." (NIV)

What is the pathway to realizing this promise of God?

Stay connected to the vine.
John 15:4 says, "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." (NIV)

You can't produce the fruit. That comes from Jesus, the Vine. But, you can remain in him. This is a daily, in fact, a continual connection to Jesus. Connection to Jesus is not a one-time event. It is moment-by-moment, breathing relationship with him. The more intentionally connected you remain, the more the fruit will grow and multiply in your life. Fruit naturally comes where there is connection between the vine and the branches.

Trust in God's promise that you have a fruitful life ahead. You can ensure the fulfilment of this promise by remaining intentionally connected to Jesus. Practice "remaining in him" by memorizing and meditating on his words, by singing worship songs to him, and by intentionally quieting yourself to listen to his voice. Fruit will then be sure to come.
