The LMC Review for Highland's library services

Thank you to all of you who are using the library with your classes, collaborating with me, and encouraging your students to read, read, read!

Happy New Year. As we welcome in a new year full of new opportunities, I wanted to wish you well and to let you know that I am ready and willing to collaborate with you on your next "big idea". Email me or call the LMC at #418720 to plan something for your students, or simply drop by to check out a great book to read for yourself.

Highlights from Ms. Webb's @MakeyMakey "Blackout Poetry" lessons in the LMC in December. Ms. Webb, Ms. Leatherman and I had a wonderful time watching these students use instructional technology in a purposeful way to bring the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to life!

Please note the new date for January's Drop-in PD. Wednesday, January 30, will be your next opportunity to join me and Mrs. Leatherman in the LMC for "Oldies with a Twist". Bring your Chromebook for a fun, interactive PD session sure to inspire you for the new semester.

When: Wednesday, January 30th, at the start of each planning period (3rd period at 12:30pm)

Where: The Library

What: Oldies with a Twist

I have added a link below to a great resource that I have held onto for a long time. "103 Things to Do Before/During/After Reading" is a list of interactive ideas to get your students thinking about the text they are reading, whether fiction or nonfiction. Why not think about ways you can use today's instructional technology tools to "modernize" one of these ideas, or simply use an idea just as it is. We don't always have to have the students use technology! (Source of resource unknown)

Don't forget to use the link on the HST Intranet site to view the LMC Class Reservation calendar. The link to the calendar is located on the LINKS tab of the site. See the screen shot below and see Mrs. Long if you need any help with this!

Please visit the Media Center Website! I have updated the Resources for Teachers and Students pages for all of you!
