Original parliament building fire

The cause of the fire in 1916 is unknown. Many think it was set by German saboteurs. But no matter the cause, it happened. The Central block of the Parliament Buildings was engulfed in flames in 1916, and a few lives were lost. What is truly amazing is that because of one man smart enough to shut the large iron doors to the Library, that the Library still stands to this day.

War of 1812

The war of 1812. A war between the USA and U.K. and it's aboriginal allies. It lasted from 1812 to 1815. The war was a naval and land battle. British troops were mostly on the defensive until 1814. The Aboriginal peoples backed off after the death of Tecumseh.

Tim hortons

I don't think there's a single Canadian who doesn't know what Tim Hortons is. They are everywhere! Tim Hortons is a chain of café-restaurants. Tim Hortons was founded in 1964, in Hamilton, by Canadian hockey player Tim Horton. There are over 4,000 Tim Hortons cafés in 9 different countries. In August 2014, Tim Hortons was purchased by Burger King.


Toronto is the provincial Capitol of Ontario, and Canada's most populated city. It is the fourth most populated city in North America. Toronto was originally known as York, and then after the Battle of York was changed to the City of Toronto. York-Toronto was founded in 1790.
