Class Charity Cake Sales

Each of our classes will be holding a cake sale to raise funds for their chosen charities. The classes would welcome donations of cakes and biscuits on the following dates:

Thursday 6th February - Badgers raising money for Mind.

Thursday 12th March - Rabbits raising money for Doorway

Thursday 26th March - Pine Martens raising money for Clic Sargent

Thursday 2nd April - Foxes raising money for Unicef

Thursday 30th April - Fieldmice raising money for Goatacre Farm Animal Sanctuary

Thursday 14th May - Hedgehogs raising money for Guide Dogs UK

Thursday 4th June - Otters raising money for Child of Hope Uganda

Willow Sculptures

On Friday 31st January and Monday 3rd February KS2 will be taking part in Willow Weaving sessions. KS1 will be weaving on Friday 7th February and Monday 10th February. The session have been kindly funded by Chippenham Borough Lands.

The children will need to bring wellie boots or outdoor shoes and coat. Parent helpers would be welcome to help each class. If you can help, please see the class teacher.

Monday 3rd February Mixed groups of Badgers and Pine Martens

Further details about KS1 will be sent out next week.

Toys

A number of children in KS1 have started bringing in toys from home. Please can we remind parents that this is not allowed. This is to save toys getting broken, lost etc. Your help in this matter would be appreciated.

Fieldmice Library Visit

On Friday 31st January, Fieldmice Class will be visiting the town library. If you would like your child to borrow a book, please send them in with their library cards. Thank you.

Donations

Fieldmice would like cardboard tubes and Hedgehogs would like hay or straw for craft projects. If you have either you can donate, please bring to the classrooms. Thank you.

Class Assemblies

Owls class look forward to welcoming family and friends to their class assembly on Thursday 30th January at 9.15am. Tea and coffee will be served afterwards.

Our Violin and Year 3 Recorder players will be playing for their families on Thursday 6th February at 10.10am

Otters' class will be welcoming their families on Thursday 13th February at 9.15 am.

Braeside and Hooke Court

Braeside

Our Year 4 children will have the opportunity to spend three days and two nights at Braeside Residential Centre in Devizes on Wednesday 26th February to Friday 28th February 2020.

The cost of the three-day stay will be £161 per child. Payment can be made in installments using ParentPay. The full balance will need to be paid by Friday 3rd April 2020.

Hooke Court

The Year 6 residential trip will take place at The Grove which is part of the Hooke Court Residential Centres Group in Llansteffan, Carmarthen in West Wales. We have booked the trip to run from Wednesday 10th June to Friday 12th June 2020.

The cost of the trip will be £178.00. Payment can be made in installments using ParentPay.

Clubs

There will be no Year 6 Netball on Tuesday 28th January or Tuesday 4th February, this is due to Year 6 pupils taking part in Young Voices, County Football and the Dance Festival.

Level 3 County Football

The rearranged Level 3 football will be taking place on Tuesday 28th January. If any of the footballers parents can help with lifts to Stanley Park, please see Mr Slee.

The girls team will be travelling to Stanley Park at 10.20 and the Boys team will be leaving at 12.30.

Library Events

Harry Potter Night

Thursday 6 February, 4:00-4:45pm

£1.50 for library members and £2 for non-members.

Half-term Canal Days in partnership with Chippenham Museum & The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust

Activities across Chippenham Library, Chippenham Museum and the Yeld Hall: all FREE!

Tuesday 18 and Thursday 20 February (same workshop run twice)

10:30-3:00 but ‘Imagine’, a Creative Writing and Illustration workshop will be at Chippenham Library from 2-2:45 both days.

World Book Day Costume Showcase

Please come and show us your brilliant book costumes and meet our junior Book Ambassadors who will be sharing their favourite titles for all ages.

Booksters Book Group (exclusively for readers in years 5 & 6)

We all read the same book then get together to discuss and debate. It’s really fun!

One Tuesday a month from 4:00-4:30.

Saturday Story Explorers

Come and hear some brilliant stories at 11:00 every Saturday morning! The first Saturday of each month includes an extended craft activity.
