Service Robots robots that can change history

Have you ever wondered about robots, including how they work or even how they can help people in their daily lives? For my Genius Hour project, I was interested in seeing how robots can help the elderly. I chose this idea because I know there are many elderly people struggling with the effects of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Before I could create my genius hour project, I needed to research more about robots. Robots can accomplish a variety of tasks due to their languages and features. Some of those languages are c,ctt http/.com and na. Robots have languages they speak in just like us. These robots also have interesting features like wheels, sensors and lights. Keep in mind the definition of a robot. A robot is a person who acts in a mechanical way.

I was inspired by the article My Robot Goes to School because of these reasons. Grady Loper is a kid who was born with a weakened immune system so it is harder to fight off a sickness and it will take longer to fight off a sickness. He even can catch a could much easier like if someone coughs he could become sick very easily. Grady stayed home for about 45 days of school each year from kindergarten to third grade. So they contacted a company that’s called double robotics. Which is a company that has robots take a students place.

As you can see robots can help people in many ways

Dementia and Alzheimer's are very alike diseases because they both can cause memory loss. These diseases can cause memory loss if they get that bad you can forget everyday tasks like feeding your pet or washing the dishes! As you can see these diseases can both cause memory loss. This is why Ms. Southmayd and I attached a I pad to Dash our School robot which then allowed me to face time or Skype the person. These communication apps are used for many different reasons, for my project I used it so I could face time the person to check in and say hi or I could make sure the person is taking the right medication at the right time. Robots can even prevent people from having to assist humans in their day-to-day tasks. Some of these tasks are a result of robotic features and help people in terms of assistance and care. This allows anyone to accomplish anything.

So with this information you now know all about elderly people with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. This is why my project will help these people with Dementia and Alzheimer’s. For my project Ms. Southmayd and I used a dash some twine, cardboard, Dashes lego connectors and tape.

First: we carved a slot for a iPad

Second: we used tape to make the cardboard hold

lastly: we used the twine to attach to the cardboard holder to the lego connectors

Thank you for listening to Andrew Blacks Genius hour presentation and have a great day!.

Special shoutout to Ms.Southmayd for her help.
