Forensics for the future

Lancashire Forensic Science Academy is the first collaboration of its kind to be based within a constabulary headquarters. The combination of police forensic expertise and academic excellence within purpose built facilities is designed to create an optimum environment for training and professional development.

The Lancashire Forensic Science Academy has secured funding for paid internships for UCLan graduates to continue assisting constabulary staff with research and validation projects to enhance operational service, in turn, freeing up front line staff for pressing police work.

Interactions with academy staff and the opportunity to experience real-time crime scene investigation and laboratory techniques enables students to build on the theory they learn at UCLan and relate it to the applied practical work of forensic professionals.

The Academy provides UCLan students the opportunity to access the professional expertise of practicing crime scene investigators and forensic science specialists within an authentic work environment.

The collaboration benefits Lancashire university students by offering a unique experience that will stand graduates apart from their peers. Their superior level of competency and understanding of the work place will more accurately meet the needs of employers in the sector. It also offers clearer channels to recruitment as graduates that have interacted with The Academy are securing jobs within police forces and institutions across the country.
