Our Manor 20-24 September 2021

Welcome to this week's newsletter

My family and I had a great time at the Raunds Mayor's Show last weekend, although I am not sure that the combination of sugar and rides was the best idea for my three young children.

As a resident and a teacher in the local area it was good to see the event so well attended. I saw a number of students and colleagues from our school and other local schools. Lots of people spoke very highly of the Manor School students and how well they did in their performance, representing the school with such enthusiasm. Ms Bishop and Ms Baron were beaming with pride when I spoke to them on Monday morning, and rightly so! The same can be said for the young children from St Peter's CE Academy who also performed very well indeed and at such a young age.

This week has been a busy one in school with school photographs. Mr Martin and I have witnessed increasing numbers of students are attending our extra-curriculum clubs. These clubs are a great opportunity for students, many of whom have not had the chance to get involved due to COVID restrictions. Exciting things are on the horizon. Open Evening and the launch of the new Houses give us lots to look forward to.

I make no apologies for finishing on a COVID note. It is important to ensure that your child is testing twice weekly using Lateral Flow Tests and that we are informed immediately of a positive test. Please do not send your child into school if they are displaying any symptoms.

Have a great weekend!

Lee Towers, Co-Principal

Meet the Principal

We are introducing a weekly session where parents/carers and members of the community can come in to school and meet with one of the Co-Principals. This is an opportunity for you to come in and talk to us, ask questions or raise any issues you might have.

  • Friday 1 October, 9:45–10:45am
  • Monday 4 October, 3:30–4:30pm
  • Friday 15 October, 9:45–10:45am

We look forward to meeting you very soon.

Year 6 into 7 Open Evening

We are now taking bookings for our Year 6 into 7 Open Evening.

The evening will give you the opportunity to meet, and listen to, the Co-Principals – Glenn Martin and Lee Towers. To ensure that everyone can hear the presentations, they will take place regularly throughout the evening starting at 4:30pm with the final one at 7:00pm.

To avoid disappointment, and to allow the school the opportunity to manage numbers on the school site, we would request that all families reserve their places at the Open Evening in advance of the evening by booking tickets – click here to book your place(s).

For further information, please see our Open Evening information page.

Student ambassadors

We are looking for students to act as ambassadors at our Open Evening, either by leading tour groups or by supporting in a subject area. Interested students should collect a consent form from student services.

Upcoming police visit

All the secondary schools across the East Northants district are working closely with Northamptonshire police to ensure all secondary schools remain a safe place for your children. To maintain the safety of students and staff, Northamptonshire Police will be conducting patrols within schools, focusing on drugs and raising awareness of knife crime. This will include patrols with a drugs dog and the use of a knife arch and knife wands.
