The Divine Love Letter (from The Translator of Silence) by Usman Asghar (for H.K.)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم

bismillāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm / In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the most Merciful

The Quran is the only book, where the author is in love with the reader. It's a divine love letter for us. In this extract from my work The Translator of Silence I would like to share with you in what realms of commitment my love is dwelling for you.

ShAHADA / CREED: The Confession of LOVE
When we fall in love with someone, we want this person to know our feelings: We say "I love you" over and over again. Our Love for Allah we embrace WITH our islamic creed, the Shahada:

لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله

lā ʾilāha ʾillā-llāh, muḥammadur-rasūlu-llāh / I bear witness that there is no God but God and Muhammad is the messenger of God.

This confession of love echoes everywhere and in everything: Every falling leave, every star in the sky, every smile, every minute detail - everything keeps repeating this silence of eternity. It’s just hidden and only visible to the eyes of your heart: "All I see reminds me of the one, I cannot see" (1) When I say I love you, Haleem, I mean that we Both share the same confession of love: The Shahada. I am Full of joy knowing that this is the basis of everything between you and I. I smile endlessly.
The Next stage of love: we want to talk to the ONE WE LOVE - all the time: We send texts, messages, quotes, stories, jokes, we share our feelings, fears, sorrows, our hopes AND dreams. With The Prayer we TALK TO ALLAH, SO We quench this Thirst of our spirit longing to talk to Allah pak. WE WAKE UP before sunrise, Fajr: "Allah I need to talk to you." We have breakfast, go to work, take a break, Dhur: "Allah I need to talk to you." A little bit later in Assr Prayer: "Allah I need some help from you." Before dinner Maghreb: "Allah, I love you so much." Before going to sleep isha: "Allah, I need to talk to you once again." HE ALWAYS LISTENS AND HE ALWAYS ANSWERS, Haleem - IN SILENCE. Talking to the beloved constantly like this, is the next level of mOhabbat.

Salah / Prayer

fajr/morning | dhur/noon | assr/after-noon | maghrib/evening | isha/night

"I HAVE A SUN AND THE HORIZON HAS A SUN, BUT MY SUN IS BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN ON THE HORIZON, FOR MY SUN RISES BEFORE SUNRISE FOR FAJR AND SHINES EVEN AFTER SUNSET WITH THE ISHA PRAYER" (The TYPE OF POETRY AISHA WOULD RECITE TO THE PROPHET (SAW)). AND JUST LIKE MY PROPHET pbuh, I REMEMBER AND THINK ABOUT YOU WITH EVER PRAYER, Every talk i have with Allah, every dua is me begging Allah for you, haleem. When I Talk To ALLAH ABOUT YOU, I FEEL NO SHAME AND I DON'T THINK I AM DOING ANYTHING WRONG, for whEN I ASK FOR YOU, I ASK FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY HEART. AND BECAUSE I AM SURE ALLAH HAS DESIGNED MY HEART ESPECIALLY DEEP DOWN, I AM SURE I AM JUST ASKING FOR SOMEONE ALLAH HAD ALREADY PLANNED FOR ME: "If you are meant for me, i was made for you, if i was made for you, I had started loving you even before i was created" (U.Asghar). WHEN i talk to you, Haleem! my words become DUA AND PRAYER, thanking allah for bringing you in my life despite thousands of miles between us. My heart is always so close to you!
The next level of love is sawm / fasting: In love you don't want to eat unless your beloved eats. Allah you tell us when to eat and if you tell us not to eat we won't eat. And when you Tell us to eat we Will eat. By Fasting during the Entire month of Ramadan, we want to show our total submission in the love for Allah. We don't Care about any of our desires, not about food, not about water, not about sleep or anything, just about Allah’s command: "Once I had thousand desires, but in my one desire to know you, they all melted away" (RUMI).

Sawm / Fasting

"I was nourished by her love" (the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said talking ABOUT THE LOVe of his wife KHADIJA) Haleem, Since the day I SAW you, I feel like I am fasting. Every day I prepare myself towards breaking the fast and being together with you. For the rest of my life and of all times. Come. Come, I say it again, Come, AND BREAK MY FAST. The little bites of you, when I get to see you sometimes remind me to carry on and be patient, for i know I Will break my fast with your date of love.
THE next level of includes spending on your beloved, we buy sweets, flowers and all sorts of gifts for your beloved. So the next step of love is zakat: OUR health, OUR wealth, OUR days, OUR nights, OUR prayers they are all for for OUR creator. They are all from ALLAH and nothing belongs to US. ALL We HAVE, IT'S ALL From Allah AND WHEN He TELLs us TO SPEND, we WILL EVEN SPEND OurSELves.

zakat / charity | "that which purifies"

"I am all yours, don't give myself back to me" (RUMI). When I SPEND MY HEALTH, MY WEALTH, MY TIME, my knowledge, my sleep, my love on you, I feel like i am gaining more of each. Whatever I can offer you and will be ABLE to offer you, it is all yours. "My heart so precious, I wouldn't trade it for hundred thousand souls, yet your one smile takes it for free." You Haleem, are the reason I aspire for more, so I come earn and place it in front of you. I may not be the richest to put the world in your feet, but I have put my entire world in front of you. Nothing is more fear to me than supporting you with all I have and see you happy!
HAJJ / pilgrimage: visiting the beloveds house
Then, the love reaches its pinnacle, when you visit the house of the beloved. Of course Allah does not live there, but we love everything that is connected to our beloved. We run around And around, counter clockwise, detached from time, detached from space, detached from everything. we are one AND calling the One, we feel complete. "We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars like dust, The stars form a circle and in the center we Dance" (RUmI). This is the joy of visiting the house of Allah, and reminding ourselves that we belong to Allah swa and to him we will return.

Hajj / Pilgrimage

I love the same sky we share, I love the moon for it reflects our love. I love every stone and particle that connects me with you, Halemah. “I am so close, I may look distant. So completely mixed with you, I may look separate. So out in the open, I appear hidden. So silent, because I am constantly talking to you" (RUMI). All my life i was looking for you, And ThEN, Softly you called me, across the space in between, across eternity, where love winds a path unseen. I am coming to your house soon. I am coming to take you with me. "Hawa houn, dua houn, urr ke araha houn, api yaad main muskuraraha houn, dil jaan se, chah raha houn, harr khushi se, apko mila raha houn, apko Khuda se hi, harr pal mang raha houn" (U.Asghar)
Translation: I am the dua in the wind, I coming flying to you, your remembrance makes me smile so much, my heart and soul are longing for you, every joy I feel is due to you, I only keep asking Allah to put your hand in mine.

I love you, Halemah
