The Story Of Moses
Moses talking to the Egyptian King

Moses was called by God to help get the Israelite's out of slavery in Egypt. The Egyptian King didn't agree right away, so God sent ten plagues on them, the tenth being 'the angel of death' (Ex 19-20)

Locusts, Frogs & The Angel of Death are just three of ten plagues that God sent to the Egyptians.

After Moses had gotten the Egyptian King to give the Israelite's up, Moses was told by God to take them through the desert. Moses and the Israelite's walked through the desert for 40 years.

Moses According to the Bible

At Mount Sinai

19 On the first day of the third month after the Israelites left Egypt—on that very day—they came to the Desert of Sinai. 2 After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain.

3 Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: 4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you[a] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”

7 So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the Lord had commanded him to speak. 8 The people all responded together, “We will do everything the Lord has said.” So Moses brought their answer back to the Lord (Ex 19-20).

Interview with Moses

L: Here I am at mount Sinai with Moses. How is it that you, Moses, got the Israelite's out of Egypt?

M: It wasn’t easy but God spoke to me and told me that the Israelites were his people and they weren’t supposed to be enslaved by the Egyptians.

L: Did the Egyptians agree right away to let the Israelites go?

M: No, the Egyptians didn’t agree right away. So, God said that he would send ten plagues the last one being the angel of death (Issacs, 2017).

L: How many plagues did it take to make the King of Egypt to let the Israelites go?

M: The King of Egypt didn’t listen to me until the first plague was sent, which was where all the water turned to blood. When this happened, he promised me that he would let the Egyptians go if I turned the water back. But he broke that promise as soon as the water was clear again. It went in this fashion for the rest of the plagues, the plague would come, the King would promise to release the Israelites, God would take the plague away and he would break his promise.

L: Did God have to send all ten of the plagues?

M: Yes, it took all ten of the worst plagues imaginable to finally convince the King to let the Israelites go.

L: After you got the Israelites out of Egypt how long did you walk through the desert and did any of the Israelites ever doubt that God was with them?

M: We walked through the desert for 40 years, that’s a long time. And maybe 10 or 12 people doubted me during that time, but they would always keep walking. And now here we are at Mount Sinai. But the people didn’t follow God all the way. When we got to mount Sinai, the Israelites started to worship and follow false Gods (Rabbi, 2006).

L: How did you get them to stop, worshipping this ‘false’ Gods.

M: God sent them a message, telling them to stop worshipping the other Gods because He is there God and there are His people.

L: Was there any relieve when you found mount Sinai?

M: There was no relieve when we found mount Sinai because we always knew that God would look after us and lead us to somewhere safe.

L: What are you waiting for now?

M: God has told me not to set foot on the mountain before the ram horn sounds a loud sound (Ex 19:14).

L: How will you and the Israelites up hold this covenant to God.

M: The Israelites and I will forever, worship and love God as He is our God and we are His people.

L: Moses has been walking here for 40 years because God told him to get his people, the Israelites, out of Egypt. And now he is here at the base of Mount Sinai, waiting for the trumpet, so that he can speak to God. That is truly amazing, thank you, back to you.
