2017 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

The Collegium Charter School Community extends their congratulations to graduating seniors, Alyssa Greenstein and Lydia Carlson. Alyssa is the 2017 senior class Valedictorian and Lydia is the Salutatorian. We are proud of all of your accomplishments throughout your academic careers at Collegium!

Alyssa Greenstein (left), Lydia Carlson (center), and Lydia and Alyssa together (right).

After graduation, Alyssa will attend The George Washington University and Lydia will attend Boston University. Friends since the third grade, the two have already worked out transportation logistics, so they can visit each other and continue the friendship they formed at Collegium.

2017-2018 Child Care and Bussing

If your child needs alternative bussing (within your home school district) for child care arrangements during the 2017-2018 school year, please review the following information.

If your home school district is Coatesville, Downingtown, or West Chester and you wish to use an alternative bus to a daycare, babysitter or bus stop besides your home bus stop, complete the DASD, CASD, or WCASD forms below and return via email it to Mrs. Novak by June 16th.

Alternative bus assignments do not carry over from a previous year. A new form must be completed each school year.

If your plans change after June 16th, please forward your bus request as soon as possible. Requests received by Collegium after July 31st may not be processed by the home school district in time for the start of school.

If your home school district is not mentioned and you have questions regarding bus assignments, please email Mrs. Novak.

Updates from our Middle School

College and Career Lessons

During the past week, your children were introduced to a program called Naviance during a lesson with their school counselors. Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness tool that helps students and families with post-secondary planning and preparation. Naviance uses a portal called Family Connection, which helps students explore different career options and interests. Students and families are encouraged to continue using Naviance at home. Students may log into their accounts by visiting the link below and entering the same login information used for PowerSchool.

Family Connection allows you to:

  • Get involved in the planning and advising process – Build a resume, complete online surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers.
  • Research colleges – Explore different colleges across the United States and beyond.
  • Research careers – Complete learning style and personality assessments, and research hundreds of careers and career clusters.
  • Create plans for the future – Create goals and to-dos, and complete tasks assigned to you by the school to better prepare yourself for your future college and career goals.
  • Apply to college – Request letters of recommendation and transcripts, and research and apply for scholarship opportunities.

We hope that you will find this resource helpful. Your children will continue to learn new aspects of the program as they progress through middle and high school. If you have questions about Naviance or Family Connection, please email one of the Middle School Counselors below.

8th Grade Moving-Up Ceremony

Parent/guardians of our 8th grade students are cordially invited to the 8th Grade Moving-Up Ceremony on Friday, June 9th. The ceremony will begin at 1:20pm and will be in the 515 Cafeteria. Please arrive early. Parking is available in the 515 Parking Lot. Parents/Guardians are permitted to take their student(s) home after the ceremony, but please sign students our first. Due to limited space, this invitation is for parents/guardians only. Vehicles must clear the 515 Parking Lot by 2:40pm to make room for dismissal traffic. Questions? Please email Ms. Halpin.

New Teacher Book Drive

The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) is sponsoring their 9th Annual NEHS New Teacher Book Drive in the 150, 500, and 468 Buildings. The purpose of this drive is to help new CCS teachers (and teachers changing grade levels) build classroom libraries.

Beginning Wednesday, May 24th, collection boxes will be placed near the entrances of each building through Wednesday, June 7th. Please help classroom libraries blossom and broaden students’ reading selection by donating new and/or gently used books. We appreciate your support!

Questions? Please email Mrs. Hirst.

We now have enough parent volunteers for 150 Field Day! Thank you for all of your support. Parent volunteers will receive a confirmation email by Monday, May 22nd.

From the CCS Home and School Association (HSA)

Serving in a capacity similar to a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) or Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), our HSA owes its success to the efforts of our many parent, teacher, and staff volunteers!

Do You Shoparoo?

Did you know that one of the easiest ways to earn money for CCS is by snapping pictures of your receipts?

Shoparoo is a FREE mobile app that turns pictures of your shopping receipts into cash for Collegium! Simply download the app to your mobile device, snap a picture of your receipts from your everyday shopping (grocery stores, gas stations, Target, etc.). Last year we earned over $1,200. Can we top that for this year?
