Below is a proposed day-by-day itinerary for your trip to Italy in May for your friend's wedding. This is completely customizeable so let me know what you think works and what you'd like changed.

Once you've had a chance to review the full itinerary, let's schedule a follow up phone call/FaceTime, if you want, to discuss your questions, concerns, and thoughts for changing anything up if you want.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Friday May 11

Today you will depart Boston for Rome.

Delta Air Lines (Operated by Alitalia - Economy Class)

Saturday May 12

A private car will pick you up at the Rome airport and take you to your hotel - Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo.

2 nights: Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo - Superior City Room with American Buffet Breakfast

In an enchanting location just a few hundred yards from the main archeological sites and the majestic Colosseum, which you feel like you can almost touch from the panoramic terrace and pool (open May to September), the Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo hotel offers an unforgettable setting for experiencing the charm of the Eternal City. The recent renovations, completed in 2013, add contemporary facilities and comfort to the already modern design of the hotel.

For a stay in the capital there is nothing better than a hotel located in the heart of the city's centre! The Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo is in a strategic position, on Via Labicana, just a few steps away from the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Basilica of St. John Lateran, Trajan's Market and other important historical landmarks. The hotel is also well-connected to the rest of the city with underground train and bus services that stop close by.

Sunday May 13

Excursion - Ancient Rome: Take a complete tour of Ancient Rome's major sights and skip the queues for the Colosseum. Gain your special access to the Colosseum and, once inside, breathe the bloody past of the amphitheater and its atmosphere on a tour led by a passionate and expert guide. Admire the splendid Arch of Constantine, climb the Palatine Hill and walk on the legendary Via Sacra or "Sacred Way" and see the Temples of Vesta, Antonino and Faustina, and the ancient Basilica Julian and Aemilia as you get a sense of the Roman Empire of the past. Tour includes inside visits at the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. You will have Skip the line entrances with no line into the Colosseum. Departs at 2:30 pm. Duration: 3 hours.

Important Note: Backpacks, rucksacks, large personal bags and luggage are banned inside the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Forum.

Monday May 14

Today you will do any early morning tour of the Vatican and then head off to Florence in the early afternoon.

St. Peter's Basilica

Excursion - Early Entrance to Vatican Museums and St. Peter's: In-Depth Experience Walking Tour with Skip-the-Line Entrances and Guide: On our semi-private walking tour of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica, you will enter an hour before the general public and explore centuries of religious history, architectural treasures and some of the most important works of art ever created. You will move throughout the Vatican Museums, visiting the Hall of Maps, octagonal courtyard, Raphael Rooms and more. You will face visionary artists such as Michelangelo, Caravaggio, da Vinci and Raphael as your guide explains the significance, heritage and meaning of those crucial works of art. We then head to the Sistine Chapel to view a piece of work many consider to be the most magnificent execution of craft and skill ever done by a single man. Concluding the tour in St. Peter's Basilica, the significance of the Vatican's art, architecture, culture and faith will become overwhelmingly apparent. Departs at 7:20 am. Duration: 4 hours.

Important Note: People wearing shorts, low-cut clothing, or with uncovered shoulders may not be admitted into museums and churches.

1 night: Monna Lisa Hotel - Standard Room with Buffet Breakfast

Today you will pick up your rental car and head out into the Tuscan countryside for your friend's wedding.

Wednesday May 16

Yay pre-wedding fun!

Thursday May 17

Congrats to the happy couple on getting married!

Friday May 18

Today you will solider through your hangover and drive back to Florence. Just remember, you had a good time getting this hungover! Once you get to Florence you can nurse your hangover with some espresso and gelato, and have a leisurely afternoon and evening in the city.

Drop Off Rental Car in Downtown Florence 12:00 pm

1 night: Monna Lisa Hotel - Standard Room with Buffet Breakfast

Saturday May 19

It's time to return stateside.

Private transfer from Monna Lisa hotel to Florence Airport: Pickup at 9:30 am.
