The Flyover JANUARY 2021

Airport Business and Master Plan Update

Airport Business Plan

Final recommendations have been provided in draft form to City staff. The team is currently addressing City and staff comments and a draft final report will be provided to the City of Lee’s Summit in the near future.

Airport Master Plan

A stakeholder work session was held on January 6 to review preliminary development alternatives. Participation was high and many meaningful comments were received related to the near, medium and long-term development of the airport. These comments are currently being addressed and the alternatives will ultimately guide the Airport’s Capital Improvement Program going forward. It is anticipated that both the Business Plan and Master Plan will be presented to the Board of Aeronautical Commissioners in April and presentations to City Council will follow.

New Development

Construction on Hangar Vee is underway. This project is being built by a private party and will be the eighth privately-built hangar at the airport.

Special Visit

A special aircraft landed at the Lee’s Summit Airport last week; a Beechcraft Starship 2000a. To the best of our knowledge, only 53 of these aircraft were made. Pretty cool!
