CNUSD Language Arts and Literacy APril 2017

ELA/ELD Adoption:

  • Pearson and HMH training dates will be announced soon. The first trainings will likely be this May.
  • As we transition to the new materials, there will be no official curriculum guides for the 2017-2018 school year. We ask that you use 2017-2018 school year to "play" with the new materials. As in the past, instruction is standards driven and the materials should support students' progress towards mastery of the standards. Please note that the 2017-2018 district assessments for grades 9-11 next year will remain the same, so students will be assessed on the same essential standards. Starting next year, grade level curriculum committees will convene to discuss the future of ERWC and the publisher materials in CNUSD curriculum guides. Feel free to contact the secondary lit team: Kate Jackson, Kim Kemmer, Annemarie Cortez, and Ivy Ewell Eldridge with any questions and comments.

  • 9th and 10th grade Semester 2 ELA Diagnostic Assessments - paper and pencil window is May 19-June 1; online window varies by school site
  • CAASPP 7th, 8th, and 11th - spring

Did you know? If students take the district assessment online, they receive their results as soon as they finish and submit the assessment. Encourage students to reflect on their learning and results. Ask them to set new learning goals.
