Arthur Ashe leadership & sportsmanship award cameron krimbill | trinity University

Cameron Krimbill | Trinity University

The Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award dates back to 1982 and is presented to men’s and women’s student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements in ways that embody the legacy of tennis icon and humanitarian Arthur Ashe Jr.

Cameron Krimbill's three years with the Trinity Men's Tennis program can be summed up in a two words -- team player. Krimbill came to Trinity as a top 10 player in the West Region, but he had no expectations. He started out in the middle of the lineup and competed hard for the Tigers. In his second year with Trinity, he moved to the top of the lineup and qualified for the ITA Cup after winning at Regionals. This season he led the Tigers the NCAA quarterfinals. He also won his first round in the NCAA Single tournament. Krimbill finished this season ranked No. 10 in singles in the nation.

Outside of tennis, Krimbill graduated with an accounting degree and is accepted into Trinity's Masters of Accounting program. He has spent countless hours tutoring his teammates to help them achieve their academic goals. Additionally, he takes time to volunteer with the team and Trinity's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

A Note from the Trinity University Men's Tennis Head Coach, Russell McMindes

Cameron,

It is my honor to congratulate you on winning the prestigious Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award. I’m thrilled to see you honored in this way.

When we talked on the phone three years ago, I couldn’t believe we were getting a second chance. We were so fortunate to have you transfer here your sophomore year and I can’t thank you enough for that opportunity. I’ve appreciated the way you integrated into our program and always embraced any role you were asked to play. You have been selfless and the ultimate team player. The way you have put the needs of others first is admirable and is reflected in your character and activities off the court as well. I am thankful for how you have led by example in every facet of life in so many ways.

Congratulations again on this well-deserved honor and thank you for letting us be a part of this journey.
