October at Minet

Year 1 Art Exhibition

The Year 1 children at Minet Infants held their annual art exhibition and once again it was a great success! For our topic 'What Makes Me Unique?' the children were learning about the famous Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso.

After learning about his work, the children created different versions of their own self portraits, in the style of Picasso. Their work was amazing and we were very enthusiastic to share it.

There were so many parents and carers and the children were very proud to present their exhibition.

I liked using the microphone to tell the parents about our art!

Thank you for coming and showing your continued support!

We have all enjoyed celebrating Harvest Festival this year. Key Stage One children performed beautiful Harvest songs and helped to act out the story of the Little Red Hen where they learnt the importance of helping others. Thank you all for your generous contributions of food items. Volunteers from the Hillingdon Food Bank were overwhelmed by the quantity of food that they collected. On Monday the volunteers returned to talk to the children about how their donations helped local children and families who do not have enough food to eat. They also entertained the children with some wonderful singing!

Year 2 have had a lovely time learning about Paddington Bear. The children learnt many facts about him and enjoyed packing a suitcase for special trips just like Paddington (but without the sandwiches!)

At the end of half term the children were excited to make their very own instruction booklets entitled 'How to make a Marmalade sandwich'. Then the children followed their instructions and made their own delicious Marmalade sandwiches!

Reception's First Trip

Reception children have been learning all about themselves and our local area.

We went on an autumn walk looking at the different places we live in.

Everyone was very excited about our day out and even a little bit of rain didn't stop us!

We also did a listening walk in the park to see what we could hear. Some of us were very lucky and saw a squirrel!

Thank you to everyone who came with us and made the trip possible.

This month our Year 2 Ambassadors presented an Annual Report for the governors at the Standards Committee. We were so impressed with the way they spoke about Rights Respecting in our school. Well Done Year 2 Ambassadors!

Article 12: You have the right to give your opinion and for adults to listen and take it seriously.

Nearly all of our after school clubs are full and the children are enjoying it, therefore it’s very important that your child attends every week. If they miss the club for any reason other than illness, their place could be offered to another child on the waiting list.

We would like to congratulate all the children who received certificates for coming to school every day since the start of term and the many parents who make sure their children attend school regularly.
