Shaping the Discourse bringing important actors together

To create a meaningful discourse around the issue of polarisation, DRI held three round tables, bringing together civil society representatives, policy makers, academics, and politicians, to discuss potential solutions to Georgia's extreme polarisation.

Two such events, in March and July, connected the issues of constitutional change and polarisation and examined how these processes interplay and contribute to each other. A third conference in November focused on devising solutions through collaboration.

November 2017 Conference

"Extreme political polarisation in Georgia: Is there a way out"

In November's conference, about fifty CSO representatives, policy makers and journalists engaged in a discussion on the causes and consequences of polarisation.

While unable to reach a consensus on a way forward, a sign of the challenges they will face in finding a solution, participants made a significant start by engaging in substantive discussions on the causes of polarisation and engaging across sectors with the intent of formulating solutions.
