14 September 2018 UPPER MOUTERE SCHOOL newsletter

Dear Parents/Caregivers

We have been so impressed by our swimming opportunity at the ASB Aquatic Centre these past two weeks. Impressed by the organisation of Sherry and her team at the pool and the quality of the instructors. The additional aspects to the programme, other than the actual lessons, has also provided greater water experiences for our children.

We have continued to receive compliments from pool staff and other users of the facilities which is great. Two weeks we are thinking is probably just enough as even some of the older students have had a bit of a snooze on the ride home.

Reports are just being completed and will be sent home next Friday. In the envelope will also be the Student-led Conference timeslot you have been allocated the following Tuesday (this has also been confirmed by email if you have booked online.

Reminder school finishes early on that Tuesday ( 25 September) to allow the Student-led Conferences to take place. Kidz Klub After 3 care is available if needed. Please contact Cindus directly to book 5432033/0273587233.

The conferences are an opportunity for your child to share their learning. You are coming into ‘their space’ to see and hear what they have been learning, what they have achieved and what they are going to be learning next. Please take the time to celebrate with your child their achievements, tell them how proud you are of what they can now do.

Teachers are there to assist your child to share their learning and to answer any questions or share assessment etc with you. We have allowed 45 minutes for you to do this, but please do not feel restricted to this time.

Next Tuesday Ariana Marr is representing us in the Motueka Primary School Annual Speech Competition hosted by us in our Hall. Good Luck Ariana, so impressed with your delivery and confidence.

Next Wednesday a small group is singing at a TDC Citizenship Ceremony at the Headingly Centre. They have been invited to sing our National Anthem and a song of their choice.

The pre Fair BUZZ is starting… lots of people getting involved and playing a part…fantastic…if you are still not on the list please do not hesitate to let Saree in the office know your availability, skill…whatever!

Thank you for your donations, we raised $153 for the Cancer Society.
Four of our students were lucky enough to win a prize as part of our book fair last week. Thank you parents for your support through purchases, as this also gave us free books for the library. Don't forget dress up day is on Thursday 20th September - dress as an animal with paws or a book character.
