Moments With The Mayor FEBRUARY 2021

SPRING FORWARD!

I know it is hard to believe considering that we just endured a full week of snow and ice, but SPRING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER! These last two days have given me a serious case of spring fever, and I want to share the joy of spring fever with you!

Being mindful that we are still in the midst of a pandemic, I did want to share some things that you and your family can do regardless of the pandemic.

Let’s have some fun in our beautiful parks. With the onset of better weather, I encourage you and your families to enjoy the great socially-distanced outdoors. The number of parks in Bolivar have increased in recent years, and we want you to take full advantage of them.

Pleasant Run Creek Park has fishing, several miles of trails, a dog park, and disc golf! In addition, you can join the community garden volunteers this year at Pleasant Run Creek Park and learn about gardening while enjoying the fruits (or veggies) of your labor.

Bolivar City Park has a playground, ball fields, tennis courts, a picnic shelter, and ample walking areas to enjoy.

West Park has baseball and softball fields and a small playground. With baseball and softball seasons right around the corner, you will soon be able to take in a game! Even if you do not have a child or grandchild playing baseball or softball, you can enjoy great fun in watching the younger children playing their heart out on the field.

Frogtown Park has plenty of basketball goals for those who love to hear and feel the pounding of a basketball against an outdoor court. There have been many-a-game played on those courts!

Finally, Sand Beach Lake will be opening in the near future. Phase 1 of the park is nearing completion, and hopefully, we will be announcing an opening date soon. I cannot wait for you see all of the changes and begin to enjoy our newest park.

We still want to be cautious while out in the public. We are not “out of the woods” as it relates to COVID-19, but we can enjoy the nature that surrounds us in Bolivar. Remember to socially distance or wear a mask to help protect yourself and others! We’ll see you in the parks!

What the Robin Told

The wind told the grasses;

And the grasses told the trees;

The trees told the bushes;

And the bushes told the bees;

The bees told the robin, and the robin sang out clear;

WAKE UP! WAKE UP!

SPRING IS HERE.
