Pacific Men's Soccer A Season for the books

It's just the beginning..

Following their 1-15-1 record last year, the Tiger's turnaround this season is one for the record books. Their 11.5 win-loss improvement is tied with two other teams for the best turnaround in NCAA history. Of these three teams, Pacific was the only one to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament (San Jose St. made the NCAA Tournament in 2000 but lost in the first round).

Champion Behaviors

The Tigers made it the furthest in the NCAA Tournament of any other Men’s WCC team this season. Pacific was also the only road team to win in the first round.

The Tigers finished with the best overall win percentage in the WCC (.737). Ranked second in points (89) and goals (32). Tied for first with seven shutouts. Third in goals allowed with just nineteen.

Julio Cervantes led the Tigers with nine goals. He was second in the WCC in total points with twenty-one and goals and first in game-winning goals with four.

Tristan Blackmon led the Tigers with five assists. In the WCC he was 8th in total points with thirteen and fifth in assists.

Curtis Goldsmith led the WCC with a 0.86 goals-against average. He was 2nd in shutouts with six and tied for third with fifty-three saves.

Underclassmen Rise Up

Seven underclassmen (freshman or sophomore standing) logged a goal this year.

Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger

The Tigers graduate three seniors this May: Julio Cervantes, Ander Saez, and Esteban De La Torre. While Julio and Ander joined the team from junior college programs, Esteban was one of three players who joined from the pacific club soccer team.
Eight players won WCC All-Conference accolades this postseason. Julio Cervantes and Tristan Blackmon were named to the WCC First Team, Curtis Goldsmith and Wouter Verstraaten to the WCC Second Team, Camden Riley and Ander Saez earned WCC Honorable Mention honors, and Andreas Charalambous and Anthony Orendain were named to the WCC All-Freshman Team. Additionally, coach Ryan Jorden was named Co-Coach of the Year.
"I'm extremely proud of these guys. I thought they were terrific this year. Their willingness to work towards the goals that they set forth, to compete and to be together as a team. They have done everything we have asked. It's been encouraging as we look at the development. This is a platform for the future." -Coach Jorden
