Viktoria's Secrets Tyler - Account Manager

Tyler / Account Manager

Tyler joined the SMS Team (Sales, Marketing & Support) over a year ago in Palo Alto as Sales Development Representative. A few months later he reached his goal of becoming one of Jumio's Account Managers.

Q: What do you do at Jumio and what does that involve?

A: I'm an Account Manager here at Jumio. This means I'm ensuring our customers have an extraordinary experience, earn trust, and build relationships that can be leveraged to introduce them to other products and services that can make a positive impact on their organization.

Q: What was Jumio's selling point for you - What made you say, "I wanna work there!"?

A: As I met everyone during the interview process, I sensed that respect for one another, diversity, and teamwork are three fundamental parts of being a Jumio employee.

Q: Before Jumio, did you have similar experiences at previous companies, or was this relatively new to you when you started?

A: I've only experienced this at one other company in my entire life and had since been searching for an organization that had these traits but never found a place that genuinely excelled at all three.

When I was reached out to by Jumio via LinkedIn by Diana, I let her know my main goal was to become an Account Manager. During the interview process, I told my manager to-be that this was a goal of mine as well. Five months later, with the help of my manager, I was promoted from Sales Development Representative to an Account Manager.

I have never experienced this level of "follow-through" at any other company.

Q: What's the best thing you've done since joining Jumio?

A: The best thing I've done is refer several employees to Jumio, and, in return, I was given the opportunity to have 15 trees planted wherever I want in the globe. I chose Australia.

Q: What do most people misunderstand about the role?

A: I think most people think being an Account Manager is super easy, and all I have to do is just make sure customers renew, which is not the case. This career isn't a job for the weak.

Q: What's the secret to being good at your job?

A: Believing in the products you are selling, believing in the company you work for, and have a passion for Account Management, ensuring customer's needs are taken personally and with empathy.

Q: What challenges did you face, and what did you learn from that?

A: The challenges I faced was being comfortable with being uncomfortable, such as being on a call with a customer for the first time or not knowing the answer to a customer question on the fly. I learned that it is ok, and to take everything step by step.

Q: What would you say to potential employees wanting to work at Jumio? What qualities should they have?

A: Love and be passionate about our product and company. Be an honest and transparent individual. Always be willing to lend a helping hand.

Understand teamwork is huge here, we work together, we are all in this together, we are here for each other, place others before yourself.
