COUNCIL MEETINGS

Members of the public can participate in the teleconference Council meetings by following the instructions stated on the meeting agenda. Members of the public can listen to the meeting audio livestream online at HERE or on Youtube, ConnectwithTC. Requests to speak during “Public Comment” will be accepted by email to cityclerk@templecity.us before and during the meeting, prior to the close of public comment on an item. Efforts will be made to read written comments received before the end of the meeting. Comments that are not read into the record will be made part of the record. Lengthy public comment may be summarized in the interest of time.

YOUTH COMMITTEE

The Youth Committee member recruitment concluded this week and 8 new members will be appointed to serve either 1 or 2 year term (12 graders will serve only 1 year). The committee will convene in August to begin planning for the year.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

HOUSING ELEMENT

The Draft Housing Element and a summary Fact Sheet are available for public review and comment. The Housing Element is an 8-year housing plan that shows how Temple City can meets its share of the region’s housing needs. The City Council and Planning Commission will be holding a Joint Study Session to review and comment on the draft plan on Tuesday, July 20. You are welcome to attend the online meeting; the purpose of the meeting is to present the plan, answer questions and receive comments. The City Council and Planning Commission will not be taking formal action until the Fall. The City will also host an online community meeting in August. PARKS AND RECREATION

PARKS MAKE LIFE BETTER CHALLENGE

In celebration of “Parks Make Life Better” month, we challenge you and your family to our free, kickoff event at Live Oak Park on Saturday, July 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. where families will enjoy a variety of picnic style lawn games and activities directed by Recreation Staff. We hope this jump-starts your July activities as we encourage all families and residents to get out and get active in the community.

NEON NIGHT WALK

Join us as we continue to celebrate Parks Make Life Better Month with the Neon Night Walk on Friday, July 30, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Live Oak Park Walking Path. Bring your family and friends and enjoy our walking path in neon colors while enjoying some fresh air and music! Glow sticks and bracelets will be provided (while supplies last), or you can bring your own. Dress in your loudest, most bright outfit. Warm-up starts promptly at 7:15 p.m.

CONCERTS IN THE PARK

We are excited to announce that this year's concert series returns to Temple City Park and in person! The concert series will run for seven weeks beginning on July 21, 2021, through September 1, 2021. The Concerts will take place at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Dr., from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. DRIVE-IN MOVIE SERIES

Drive-In Movies return to Live Oak Park this July and August! On Friday, July 23rd and Friday, August 6th and August 20th, pack up the kids, load up on snacks and head down to Live Oak Park for cool summer movie nights! Registration is required for each movie event. (Same day/on-site registration will not be allowed) The fee for each event is $25 per vehicle and will include a small movie snack pack. Patrons are encouraged to bring extra food and snacks as concessions will not be available on site. For more information and schedule of movies, please CLICK HERE.

FAMILY TRIVIA NIGHT

Family Trivia Night was first introduced as a virtual event for the community during the pandemic, a way for our patrons to continue to recreate as we stayed “Sheltered at Home.” Coming this August 12, we will be conducting our final virtual Family Trivia Night as we transition back to more traditional services. Do not miss out on this opportunity to test your knowledge against your fellow Temple Citians! Prizes for the top three teams are: 1st Place $40 gift card, 2nd Place $30 gift card and 3rd Place $20 gift card.
