Virtual Classroom 2nd grade Tiffany herrold

Layout plan

With this layout, I would have bookshelves and a literacy rug for a cozy reading area in the back of the room. Along the side wall I would have all the computers for students to work on during centers or free activity time. They can listen to audio books, or spend time on educational reading and math programs. My desk would be facing the door in order to see new guests entering and to ensure safety of students.

In this corner of the room, you can see there are cozy places to dive into a good book. We also have computer centers located in the corner as well.

Each table is cleaned and reorganized at the end of each day to ensure students have materials on their desk for the next day. This allows for fewer disruptions during class time and allows students to be more efficient rather than worrying about where a pencil or marker is.

We like to encorporate technology through the everyday use of the smart board. We will select our lunch choices and student attendance through the smart board too! There is also a display board for students to share work that they are proud of so that their peers can see what wonderful work they did.

Each student is provided with a bin which contains content textbooks, notebooks, and other materials that they may need throughout the day.

This is the display board which was mentioned earlier. If a student has a piece of work that they are excited to share, we can hang it under their picture. This inspires motivation and creativity.

This is a fun writing area for students. Each week the writing topics and activities change. I provide fun writing stationaries, stamps, markers, and colored pens to help encourage creativity.

All reading tubs are marked with pictures and reading levels. Students are allowed to pick from the white bins placed on top. These are changed out periodically and make it easy for students to ensure they are picking appropriate books for their level.

Book Bins-organized by reading levels And themes

Easily accessible supplies

These tubs make the day more functional. Students know exactly where materials are if they need it and are kept organized and stocked.

In my classroom, we never lose a student. This system helps me keep track of each student if they ever need to leave the classroom

This fun clip system is rotated each day so students can enjoy a different center each day. There are so many fun choices!!

This helps not only myself keep organized, but any substitute who may take over in my leave of absence. I want to ensure our time is well spent so I try to keep organized.
