Exploring SolutionsB Solubility Rules

C. 10.B develop and use general rules regarding solubility through investigations with aqueous solutions

Use your Student Progress Tracker to decide which level to start on. Complete at least 1 DIY for that level, then get the quiz from Mrs. Whitfield. Complete the quiz. Then proceed to the next level. You must complete Level 3 ("Meeting Expectation") but you may also complete Level 4 ("Exceeding Expectations") if you would like. Please jot down on your student tracker what you did for the DIY (and if you requested any workshops). The quizzes for Levels 1-3 will be averaged for the one daily grade for C.10.B; if you placed out of Level 1 or Level 2, you do not need to take those quizzes. If you choose to complete Level 4, the points earned on that quiz will count as bonus points for this daily grade.

1. Initiating Progress: Students identify general rules regarding solubility through investigations with aqueous solutions. DIY Watch and listen to music video "Solubility Rules" http://tinyurl.com/gtwrg8n (QR code or button below). Assess: Answer quiz question [get from teacher].

2. Approaching Expectation: Students identify and use general rules regarding solubility through investigations with aqueous solutions. (complete solubility investigation in class). DIY Complete Question 2 a-f on the Solubility Lab, then get the answer key from the teacher to self-check. Assess: Answer quiz question [get from teacher].

3. Meeting Expectation: Students develop and use general rules regarding solubility through investigations with aqueous solutions. DIY Sort the Solubility cards into two stacks: Soluble or Insoluble. Check key inside bag to self-check your answers. Assess: Warm Up to Science #69 and STAAR Practice Test A #45 (2 half-pages).

4. Exceeding Expectation: Students develop and use general rules regarding solubility through investigations with aqueous solutions and apply them to the specific environments. DIY Explore the online pHet simulation "Salts & Solubilities" http://tinyurl.com/gljw2zb (button and QR code below) Assess: Sweet 16 Ion Tournament
