February Newsletter CHATTANOOGA HOLISTIC MEDICINE

Welcome, Conor!

Conor O'Day

I am a licensed massage therapist specializing in medical and sports massage. I received my training at Chattanooga State earned my License shortly after in 2016. My training included Swedish massage, relaxation, Reiki and therapeutic massage. My specialties are sports massage and medical massage.

My favorite part about working in massage is seeing the way my work can help people get back to doing what they love. Our bodies are our gateway to interacting with the world, and to have the possibility of interaction taken away from us or limited can be frustrating. As an amateur athlete, I began my career in massage as an attempt to better understand the mechanisms of the body and how we can improve its function. My treatment model involves focusing on balance and the relative fluidity of the fascial system in the body, and taking the time to establish a strong energetic connection with each and every one of my clients.

Welcome to Conor! He will be available Mondays and Fridays from 10am-4pm. We are so excited to have him on board!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Spread the love!

This Valentine's Day, spread the love! After a tumultuous 2016, it's always good to remind your friends and family how much you love them! Unfortunately for our nutrition, this usually means lots and lots of chocolate, so let's talk about some healthy ways to consume that chocolate and spread the Valentine cheer.

HEALTHY TIP #1

Make dinner at home!

The trend is often to go out for Valentine's Day, but try making dinner at home this year! Take some time to plan extra special meal filled with fruits and veggies or make that recipe you've been wanting to try. Eating at home puts you in charge of how your food is prepared and how many extra calories you're consuming.

Have your cake, and eat it too!

Healthy Tip #2

Eat your chocolate! Holidays are for celebrating, so feel free to indulge a little. Just aim for organic, DARK chocolate--at least 70% to reap all the health benefits. If you're planning to make a special dessert, avocado makes an excellent substitute for butter; plus, you're getting all your healthy fats in! There are lots of recipes online; here's one of our favorites! Chocolate & Peanut Butter Avocado Mousse....http://minimalistbaker.com/chocolate-peanut-butter-avocado-pudding/

Show love

Healthy Tip #3

Tell someone you love them! That could be your Mom or Dad, siblings, best friends, significant other, or a new friend, or extended family. Let someone else know that they are cared for and mean a lot to you. It will make you feel better and make someone else's day!
