UP EEEI, Samsung forge R&D collaboration through Smart Classroom

The UP Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP EEEI) and the Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation (SEPCO) forged research and development (R&D) partnership with the launching of the UP-Samsung Smart Classroom, held on 30 January 2017.

The UP-Samsung Smart Classroom (Rm, 204, EEEI Bldg. I) houses the latest Samsung technologies including tablets and smart LED boards. It will be used as one of the instructional laboratories in the UP EEEI. The classroom will be utilized in virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) research, in line with one of UP EEEI’s research thrusts and with Samsung’s key corporate citizenship program, VR4Good.

Siglo to represent PH in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2017

Siglo, the energy-efficient vehicle of Team Dagisik University of the Philippines, will be representing the Philippines in the Shell Eco-Marathon (SEM) Asia after bagging 1st prize under Urban Concept Battery Electric Category in the SEM Philippines 2017, held on 04 to 05 February 2017, in Clark International Speedway, Pampanga.

Siglo will be competing for the SEM Asia 2017 from 16 to 19 March in Changi Exhibition Center in Singapore.
Dagisik, which is a Tagalog term for electron, a subatomic particle essential in electricity, is used as the team’s name as it is composed of students from the UP Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP EEEI). The vehicle is named Siglo, which means “one hundred,” in line with the EEEI’s, and DME’s centennial celebration last year 2016.

The 5th UPEEEAAI Golf Classic

The 5th UP Electrical and Electronics Engineers Alumni Association, Inc. (UPEEEAAI) Golf Classic held in Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club on 10 February 2017 was deemed successful, with around 45 golf players from alumni and sponsors who participated.

This event served as the culminating activity of the UP EEE Institute Centennial Celebration and a fund raiser to help support the continuing scholarship and research programs of the UPEEEAAI. The tournament FORMAT was Systems 36, with the field into Class A, Class B, and Class C for competition.

Nominate NOW the next UPEEEAAI Board of Trustees for term 2017-2018! You may nominate one (1) up to five (5) candidates with the following qualifications:

1. Graduate of UP EEEI (BS, MS/ME, or PhD/DE);

2. Lifetime member of the UPEEEAAI (non-members are also eligible, provided that they apply for lifetime membership anytime during their term);

3. Must be willing to put in time and effort to assist and work with the EEE Institute in pursuit of its objectives.
