Praise God for our September spotlight missionaries, Bob & Esperanza Simons!
Bob recently taught a module on Inductive Bible Study for our School of Ministry and several other members of our Body. Praise God for his ability to teach principles of digging into God's Word!
Praise God also for recent internet classes Bob has developed and taught, including The Gospels, Introductory Greek, and Pastoral Theology.
Please pray for an opportunity to start a pastor training program with some rural indigenous pastors in Baja, Mexico. Pray for open doors in God's perfect time.
Praise God for the connections and increased support Linda Weber was able to find during her recent visit to the United States. She is returning to France 9/1 to continue her work in friendship evangelism, but is still $160/month short of her budget. Please pray for God to supply all of Linda's needs!
Pray for Mike, our Global Relief missionary! He will minister to Syrian refugee families in Lebanon and Yazidi refugees in Kurdistan (northern Iraq) during mid-September.
Please pray for Mike and his team:
- They will visit refugees tent to tent, sharing gift boxes to help meet their basic needs (meat, medicine, vitamins, etc.). Pray for heart connections and good communication!
- They also plan to train the refugees in TCD (Transformational Community Development) - how to identify, prioritize, and resolve their problems with locally available resources. The training focuses on food, water, health, education, and jobs. Pray for the refugees to have hope and vision, and to see God as their provider as they work through this process!
- They will support the church in Lebanon & Kurdistan in supplying immediate relief through staples such as flour, salt, sugar, beans, rice, diapers, and medicine.
- Please pray for the team's families while they are overseas!
Praise God for the faithfulness of our missionary family in Central Asia!
Praise God for growth in "Danny", a young man we've been praying for over this past year. He is studying Genesis and John with the missionary husband, and recently invited his wife & sister to join them. Please keep asking God to draw Danny & his entire family to Himself!
Praise God also for the opportunity the missionary husband had to pray publicly in the name of Jesus for healing for a little girl with cancer. Please pray for God to heal the little girl, and draw many more people to seek Him!
The missionary wife has made many community connections through her family and daily life. Recently they invited believing and seeking friends on a picnic. One of the ladies asked, "How do you have so many friends from such different age groups, nationalities, and walks of life?" The wife was able to tell her about the Family of God, and how only Jesus can break down all those barriers. Please pray that others will see the Christians' love and be drawn to Jesus!
Please pray for Karen Hulbert, leader of Sets the Captives Free Ministry, as she seeks opportunities to partner with other local ministries to provide support for women who have been recently incarcerated and struggling teens.
Praise God for Matt & Noelle Harris, missionaries in Uganda! They are seeing lots of fruit in their ministry! Last month, the new class of pastors began studying Genesis during their one-week-a-month classes. At the end of the first week, one student pastor said it was as if he'd never read the Bible before, and was now reading it for the first time, despite being a pastor for many years.
Please pray Hebrews 4:12 for these pastors - "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." and I Corinthians 2:12-13 - "We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words."
Praise God for another facet of Matt & Noelle's ministry, Business as Mission (BAM). The chickens are ready to start laying eggs, the fish are growing, and the products they make from sunflower seeds and maize are selling well. Matt has reworked the hydroponics systems so they can feed their chickens more cheaply.
Thank you to all of you who prayed for little Maddie, who contracted malaria last month. She has recovered and is doing well. Both Matt & Noelle were treated for malaria after Maddie recovered. Please continue to pray for their family's health.
Thank you for praying for Richard and Suzy Encinias, who provide free or low-cost counseling in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Suzy's hand surgery went well last month. Her recovery time is estimated to be 6 months to a year. Richard's health problems continue to be stable, but he is going back in November for more testing to rule out cancer. Please pray for joy in the midst of difficulty, and for wisdom as they counsel. Also, please pray for provision of their daily needs.
Praise God for Jeff & Naomi Cuozzo, missionaries to Bath, England. Jeff & Naomi have 2 facets to their ministry: 1) A church plant in Bath, England. Despite England's history as a Christian nation, there is a lack of verse-by-verse Bible teaching through the power of the Holy Spirit. 2) Jeff & Naomi have a history of ministry in Israel, and God has given them a burden for Christian youth in Israel. Christians face heavy pressure, especially during their time in the military, so around 12 Jewish Christian or Arab Christian youth finishing their obligation to the Israeli Defense Forces will be invited to take part in an intensive discipleship program for 3 months in England.
Please pray for Carlos and Yolanda Casco!
- Carlos will go to Cajamarca, Peru, on August 2, where he will teach the book of Mark at the Calvary Hosanna Bible Institute for 2 weeks.
- Then he will spend 2 more weeks in the Amazon jungle, teaching Inductive Bible Seminars to pastors living in 2 areas.
Praise God for His Safe Haven Village, and the progress in construction! 3 foster homes are built and almost ready for flooring, doors, and screens. The other 3 have foundations and are ready for walls. When these 6 homes are ready, the entire community will move into the village, This will provide a safe place for these children. Right now, they are living in rental properties in a mostly-Muslim community that mistreats them.
