NEWS FROM THE COUNTRYSIDE MONTESSORI MIDDLE SCHOOLERS weekly updates on what's going on in the community

Assassin's Quest was a very disappointing end to the Farseer Trilogy. The Farseer Trilogy is a fantasy series written by Robin Hobb. The book itself left me with more questions than answers. Robin Hobb kept piling question upon questions without answering any. Assassin's Quest was a let down after a mostly positive series. The second major flaw of the book was the anti-climactic plot. Hobb kept building up to a point only to resolve it long before the end of the book. This left the reader feeling like they had read a series of short stories rather than a novel. The end result was similar to riding a roller-coaster. The only saving grace of this book was its relatable characters and wonderful character development.

For the Opera the Middle Schoolers help work on the costumes, set, and props. This week for props, Oliver and Anjan worked in the woodshop to fix up a staff that was getting a little out of date. For set we finished painting some green and luscious hills made out of styrofoam. And finally for costumes, we had the elementary start trying on their costumes. All of the groups are staying on schedule.

As you know the Middle Schoolers have a class called woodshop. This past week Oliver Hawes, Tess Clark and Willem Aspinall worked on making a cutting board for the kitchen. For the cutting board, they actually made it out of wood left over from the construction of the middle school. This wood is called tiger wood and you can see the beauty of it in the pictures below. The cutting board fits perfectly in the sink and looks exquisite.
