Jay Atwill is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Australia. He began his career playing underage in bars on the far south coast of New South Wales.
A citizen of the world, having performed in Asia, Australia, Latin America and the U.S. Finally choosing Montreal as a base for his creative endeavours.
He has spent many years working as a co-writer, arranger, producer and sideman for local and international artists including Jamaican Singer OMI, Coral Egan, Bet.e & Stef, Lydia & Sebastien and Lubo Alexandrov of Kaba Horo. In 2009 he was nominated for a JUNO award for album of the year (world music category) for his work on Contrabanda by Kaba Horo.
2015 marked the return to his solo career with the release of Invocation, selling out the first pressing without any formal promotion while on tour with Bet.e & Stef.
Jay's recent addition to les Disques Simple artist roster signals a new chapter in his career. Montreal November 26, 2018- Les Disques Simple were pleased to present Undoing, a new radio single written and performed by Jay Atwill and co-produced with Carl Bastien and Nicolas Roberge, backed by The Stone County Players. Jay has just returned from his Australian Kiss the Ground Tour which saw him performing along Australia's east coast during January and February of 2019.
