Pregnant Driftwood Day 6 on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path

We are DNA, both fortunate and insane, forming a universe of fertile thoughts. Within this tragicomedy, these ideas look for a time when they can create pregnant pauses. As suspenseful moments, they drift in the womb of maternal waters, a salty space, where the egg waits patiently.

The two most powerful warriors are patience and time. - Leo Tolstoy
The Day's Hike From Manorbier To Bosherston
Scepticism is the first step on the road to philosophy. - Denis Diderot

Clouded Dreams

As I write this account of the hike, the world is about to move into the uncertainty of a Trump presidency. To be honest, I am happy that Trump won. America needs a wake up call if we hope to survive this century. America needs to feel a fever so powerful that it thrashes about in a sweaty nightmare, which frightens us all to our core. We cannot live upon childish dreams filled with flowers and rainbows. We need to watch our horizons bleed from the cuts induced by a tyrannical, narcissistic beast. We need to have clouded dreams.

Life begins on the other side of despair. - Jean-Paul Sartre
Morning Ascent

The swaying moans of the ocean mimicked the volatile personality of my mind. If there were such a job, I would make a great manic depressive.

Firmly in the belly of a pregnant illusion, the day was well on its way to delivering another perfect baby.
Illusion is the first of all pleasures. - Oscar Wilde

The world, for a brief moment, bent its light and painted a motionless landscape of indecisive contrast. For a tantalizing second, I felt a definite maybe. That is the best it could do for me or I just lack the courage to judge.

Art is the proper task of life. - Friedrich Nietzsche
I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion. - Jack Kerouac

Caveat Emptor - Let the Buyer Beware

I felt elongated like the ribbons of light that had been scattered about the warm autumn morning. It was a natural order of things, expressed in the language of nature, which spoke to me. It made sense. I was on the coast of barbarian urges, a place where hopes and prayers whisper urgently about not letting praetorian shadows darken their shores. I could only reply "Caveat emptor - let the buyer beware".

We are all born mad. Some remain so. - Samuel Beckett

Madness is everywhere. It drips from the teeth of innocent clouds. It paints the rocks gravy train black. It stands the hair of crab grass in a porcupine quill array.

The hike, like most hikes, was a great amount of work but the blue bellied skies, insane laughter of the ocean, and great company aided in building a wall to stave off any misery.

Distant beaches and a lazy tide, feet, please don’t forget how to walk. - Just Another Guy
“A screaming comes across the sky.” ― Thomas Pynchon, Gravity's Rainbow
Whatever satisfies the soul is truth. - Walt Whitman

Nothing satisfies my soul. There are times when I am almost there. The reflection in the mirror calling for me to come inside. The ghost looking down, watching the play unfold. The blood dripping from the final wound. It is always one degree of separation, a pale silhouette, an otherworldly shimmer that obscures the view.

I salute Walt Whitman for I have always liked his writing. But, in my world, there isn’t any truth, only shades of a beautiful lie that is slowly moving backward in time.

“Matter is not lacking in magic, matter is magic.” – Terence McKenna
I yearn to be one with that matter which is magic.

Trapped In a Box

We are born in a narrow slice of space, which carves off a piece of time and causality. This lump of excited energy forms our childish mind, filled with infinite imagination. Slowly the conservative forces of civilization build a wall. Brick by brick, the walls of the box dampen the origin of who we are: a constant state of excited energy that wants to live in a timeless field of nothingness, the nothingness which is everything: the infinite void. If you aren’t careful, you will allow yourself to be trapped in this box.

Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal. - T. S. Eliot
...on days when there is nothing to do but wonder...why blue?

Which Way Is Now?

“It's all now you see: tomorrow began yesterday and yesterday won't be over until tomorrow.” - William Faulkner

Many years ago, we opened our eyes and learned to remember. I must remember to forget.

The Path Along The Coast
Nature favors those organisms which leave the environment in better shape for their progeny to survive. - James Lovelock

As "The Donald" steps into the Oval Orifice, Mother Nature sharpens her swords. The White House shall soon be blackened by carbon footsteps larger than any before him.

The walk hadn't been difficult, but something in me was off.
I wasn't fully here...part of me was there.
A deserted island in the middle of rapture.
History is more or less bunk. - Henry Ford

When we are not sure, we are alive. - Graham Greene
It is not the answer that enlightens, but the question. - Eugene Ionesco
When taken in perspective, we are such small things. Not insignificant, but certainly small.
And in the face of this immensity, we persevere and manage to add our funny beings to the great equation.

A Little Perspective

All in all, Hubble reveals an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the universe or so, but this number is likely to increase to about 200 billion as telescope technology in space improves. - Mario Livio Apr 1, 2014

Oh...and there is this

Observable Universe contains ten times more galaxies than previously thought - 13 October 2016

Yah, Trump and Putin are truly laughable creatures.

In the fight between you and the world, back the world. - Franz Kafka
...yes, back the world.

We are living on borrowed time. My fear is that Mother Nature wants it all back...with interest.
