For many Hispanics, economic factors remain an obstacle to college enrollment. In a 2014 National Journal poll, 66% of Hispanics who got a job or entered the military directly after high school cited the need to help support their family as a reason for not enrolling in college, compared with 39% of whites.
In 2016, *The Pew Research Center cited that the issue of education is an important one for Hispanics. Roughly eight-in-ten, or 83% cited education as very important to their vote in the 2016 election, ranking it alongside the economy, health care and terrorism as a top issue.
Of the Fortune 500 CEOs, only 21, or 4% are people of color. Despite the fact that women make up over half the workforce in 2017, only 4.2% of Fortune 500 CEOs are female -- a drop from 2015 — and of those, only 4 are women of color. Until these statistics improve, women and people of color will not experience full economic vitality for themselves or their communities, and business will not benefit from the full range of available talent. Clearly there is still work to do
INROADS HISPANIC HERITAGE EVENT VISIONES
INROADS celebrates Hispanic Heritage with their annual Visiones Gala. This black tie affairs brings together 300 leaders and celebrates the power of education with Visiones 100 which provides scholarships for educational and schooling expenses and continues to bring awareness in the Latino community amongst our constituents.
" By awarding me with this scholarship, INROADS has lightened my financial burden which will allow me to focus more on my studies and continue to improve in my academic classes. Through your generosity, this has inspired me to give back to my community and help others as well. Hopefully, one day I too will be able to give back to the many deserving Hispanic/Latino students that are undeniably under-served. Again, thank you for the support and generosity."
