Operation: Dissect a Cow's Eyeball 5th Grade, Elkhorn Elementary School

5th graders at Elkhorn Elementary had some special guests come teach about how our eyes work. We learned that cow eyeballs are very similar to our own eyes in the way they work and the structures they have! Students learned techniques related to a science lab and specific scientific terms for the parts of the eye!

Don Coen teaches 5th graders about the parts of a cow's eyeball.

By the end of the dissection, students removed the lens from the eyeball and learned how light is refracted (bent) as it passes through!

By learning how a cow uses its eyes to see, we were able to learn how humans use our eyes to see!
SPECIAL THANKS TO DON AND ANN COEN, AS WELL AS JULIE CASEY FOR TAKING TIME TO VISIT OUR SCHOOL!

Enjoy the rest of the pictures from our awesome day!
