Dear Patton Families,
I hope you are having a great holiday weekend. If I were to rate our opening week on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best - I would give last week a 10+. Our teachers were ready, and our students responded. New relationships are being formed, new journeys started, and new discoveries are being made, and it is all happening at Patton Middle School.
On Friday, I sent out a message about a change in our Back to School Night event. The event will be a live virtual event, and it will be held on Thursday, September 23rd, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Here is the schedule for the event.
6:30 - 7:00 -- Live Q&A Session via ZOOM with panelists from Patton Middle School. The panelists will be:
- Steve Dissinger - Principal
- Jess Knier - Assistant Principal
- James Smith - Dean of Students
- Trish Harlan - Nurse
- Cara Malone - 6th-Grade Counselor
- Rachel Saletta - 7th-Grade Counselor
- Tim Huxta - 8th-Grade Counselor
- Regina Gaffney - Social Worker
- Maurine Dukes - School Psychologist
- Kendall Yarosh - Middle School Athletic Director
- John Walsh - Technology Integration
7:00 - 8:30 -- Individual sessions with teachers on Google Meet
We will be sending out additional information on how parents log into the Q&A session and the individual teacher sessions soon. We encourage parents to join the Q&A session and the teacher sessions on your child’s(ren’s) Chromebooks and participate in each session with your child(ren).
Please enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend. We look forward to seeing our students on Wednesday.
Have a great day! GO HAWKS!
Steve Dissinger - CFPMS Principal
Chromebooks should be charged at home every night. Students should not bring their charger to school. If they need help with an uncharged Chromebook while at school, they should see their classroom teacher. If families would like to buy a second charger, visit the Patton Chromebook page for more information.
Please remind students that their school-issued Chromebooks must be kept in the protective case at all times. The protective case has helped reduce breakages by a significant amount since the time when we did not use these cases a few years back. This has cut down on a lot of expense for both the district and for parents. The daily journey to, from and around school - combined with with Patton's particularly hard floors - puts the Chromebooks in some peril! Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
And as we start the new year, don't forgot to visit the Patton Technology page for assistance with your child's Chromebook, logins to school systems and more.

On August 26th the FTC robotics team, the Green Lemons, participated in an outreach event at the blue rocks game. We showed off our robot and explained to 35 attendees about joining FTC and what it means to be a robotics team. We let them use our robots we made to help influence them to join. We also got on the field where they play and got to do something called the First Pitch where our robot drove to home plate from the pitcher's mound. Interested in joining Green Lemons FTC - contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Heart & Sole Coaches Needed
Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run's middle school program that meets the unique needs of girls in 6th-8th grade. The program considers the whole girl – body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection. They are currently seeking for coaches for their 2021 fall program to be held at Patton! You do not need to be a runner; you simply need to have a desire to support and encourage all girls. Volunteer coaches facilitate our easy-to-follow lessons with small groups of girls over the course of the 8 week program. Our team provides you with all the resources and tools that you need to empower and inspire every girl to be confident, joyful and healthy. Men are welcome to coach as well! There are lots of fun and meaningful opportunities to help support our school, teachers & staff, and students through work done by the PTO, and we would love your help! No experience or large time commitment needed. Sign up here!
It Just Takes $10
We are excited to kick off the new school year and get back to what the PTO does best - investing in the students and staff of CFPMS! For the past two years our largest fundraiser, the Spring Carnival was cancelled. With savings, we purchased an outdoor tent classroom, provided teachers with a classroom subsidy, and much more.
We are humbly asking each family that can, to contribute $10 to support the work of the PTO. Gifts can be made here: charles-f-patton-middle-school-pto.square.site
