Hey there!

I know how hard it is to be in front of the camera. The tips I have outlined have helped numerous families make a shift from nerves to natural, and have created some amazing family sessions!

Family is not an important thing. It is everything. -Michael J. Fox

1- Bring a treasured item from home

Think about ways to personalize your session. Try bringing a family heirloom or treasured item, your child's favorite toy, or even a personalized gift. Consider bringing your family pet, signature home items or anything that represents your unique family.

2- Play music that represents your family

Ask your photographer to play music! Share your favorite song, silly songs, or songs your children like to sing. Does your family have a theme song or a song that you play often? Let's dance, sing and laugh!

3- Keep your hands busy

Hold your child's hand, give kisses, brush their hair behind their ear, play and dance, chase and ask questions, pick flowers, tell secrets, start a tickle fight. Keep moving and enjoy the process with your children. Activities you enjoy doing with one another will help tell an authentic story and capture your true personalities.

4- Let's talk wardrobe

Keep your wardrobe simple. Avoid logos and lots of busy patterns but embrace textures and layers. Choose a color scheme for your family but stay away from matching. Timeless family portraits are created when we embrace simplicity and focus on your beautiful family.

5- Accept the unpredictable

Embrace the chaos of the moment and this season of life. Honest connections and candid connections create real and specific memories. Be vulnerable and open in front of the camera and your family's story will begin to unfold.
