LaAmistad at Peachtree February 23, 2017

Dear Friends,

It's been a very short week here at Peachtree, but not a week or day goes by without me being thankful for the work that you do.

Our Volunteer Quarterly Meeting of the Minds was a great success. Thank you for coming out and learning about how we can best meet the needs of our students.

I would like to encourage each of you to make the time to sit down with each of your students and share the data, and information with your students.

By doing this you help our students set goals and foster trusting relationships.

These relationships are important because they help them to take ownership and be accountable for their own learning.

Student Notes and Information

We have placed student information notes from our sessions in your grade level notebooks for you to review and help guide your instruction.

The work that you do is truly valued.

Wednesday Classroom Changes

Our 5th Grade Classes will share the space in the first grade room beginning next week on Wednesdays.

Computer Symbaloo Websites for Laptops

All of the classroom laptops have been set up with the cloud based websites for student learning.

We have created a board for appropriate remedial & enrichment sites for our students.

Volunteers that attended the quarterly meeting were trained on how to use Symbaloo.

Need more help? Just ASK it will be our pleasure!

Sing Me A Story

Our students have been asked to participate in a wonderful opportunity and have their stories published and turned into songs through the Sing Me A Song Program.

Their mission is to bring the voices of children in need to the world - through music.

This week we I will be reviewing student journals and working with any student who may have an interest in being a part of the Sing Me A Story project.

This is a great way for students to work on their writing skills and work possibly have thei writing published ias well as scored in a song.

What an awesome opportunity.

Word of the Week

Differentiate

Meaning: see or state the difference Can be used instead of: contrast, distinguish

Highlight the Answers in the Text

How to incorporate the study skill: Using a highlighter or your finger, you should highlight the words or sentences that provided you with the answers to the questions.

This requires you to have to prove the answers to yourself rather than guess. You may have to reread the passage to find the answers.

Virtue of the Week

Peacefulness

Peacefulness is an inner sense of calm. It comes especially in quiet moments of reflection or gratitude.

Peacefulness is a way of approaching conflict with others so that no one is made wrong. With peacefulness, everyone wins.

Affirmation

I am peaceful. I use peaceful language and find peaceful solutions to any problem that arises. I find my inner peace and let it carry me gently through the day

Thank you for impacting the lives of our children, we do hope you realize the difference you are making in the future of our children.

Thank you for all you do! We will see you next week
