What was the Trojan War?

The Trojan war is a story about two kingdoms in conflict. Kingdoms Troy and Mycenaean. This story was written by Homer Iliad. In the story the Trojans build a large wooden horse to defeat Troy.

When did the Trojan War start and end?

"Helen’s jilted husband Menelaus convinced his brother Agamemnon, king of Mycenae, to lead an expedition to retrieve her. Agamemnon was joined by the Greek heroes Achilles, Odysseus, Nestor and Ajax, and accompanied" (History.com). The war started when Queen Helen of Sparta was kidnapped by the Trojan Prince Paris. It ended when the Greeks defeated the Trojans.

Who were the major players of the war?

The major player of the war were Agamemnon, Achilles, Nestor, Ajax, Odysseus and accompanied. They helped get back Queen Helen of Sparta. All of them returned home after the war except Odysseus, he went back 10 years later after Troy fallen.


Who is Homer?

Homer, An Ancient Greek author of two famous poems, was the writer of the myth. He was also the author of "The Iliad" and "The Odssey". Homer was born around 850 BC and died around 800 BC. Now he is known for his his two epic poems. "...the life of Greek poet Homer, credited with being the first to write down the epic stories of The Iliad and The Odyssey.." (Biography.com).

How can the Odyssey relate to it?

"Ten years have passed since the fall of Troy, and the Greek hero Odsseus still has not returned to his kingdom in Ithanca..." (SparkNotes.com). The story, The odyssey is about a man who has not returned back home after the ten long years when Troy fell. In his journey he defeats creatures. How this relates to the Trojan war is that Odysseus has not returned to his kingdom because of the war. He was also one of the major players of the war.
