Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight is an award-winning film following the life of Chiron, a queer, black American growing up in the Miami projects. It captures Chiron in three chapters- “Little”, “Chiron”, and “Black”- each ending in their own pivotal moments. Moonlight explores what it means to grow up in an unaccepting environment and the effects it takes on the people, centering on ideas of intersectionality, masculinity, and identity through the eyes of Chiron. Moonlight is available on Netflix.
