Sherwood - Where Great Things Happen October 2017

We are so excited with how our year has gone thus far! We have done so many great things! Students are working incredibly hard, making great strides in their academics and learning the importance of being a great friend! The beginning of the year is always a busy time.

We are thrilled that our cafeteria is now cooking our food right here in the building. The kids report that things are tasting better this year. Our students are doing a great job in the cafeteria, getting their lunches, eating their fruits and veggies and following expectations. We have added reading to our Nutrition 5. Fifth grade students were enthralled with Jack London's short story "To Build A Fire." Lower grades are now hearing stories by children's classic author, Beatrix Potter.
Goldent Spurs - First Two Rounds

Students who are consistently showing their best efforts every day are honored by their teachers with membership in the Golden Spur Club. Every two weeks students are chosen by their teachers for nomination into our Golden Spur Club. These students are given some special privileges in the building, an extra recess a month and are given a prize. The kids are thrilled when they are nominated. Last year, almost 275 students received the honor. We are hoping for even more this year. All students are also eligible for recognition with a Silver Spur token. These students are caught doing good things in our school community. These students are given a token, recognized in front of their class and receive a prize. Way to go, hard working Spurs!

Wow! What's been happening at Sherwood? It looks like just about everything! Halloween parades, attendance trophies, kids at the Oregon East Symphony, Mrs. Corey's class working on community/cityscapes, Mrs. Cain's class doing science, Pizza Party for Coats for Kids class winners, Golden Spur free recess, sculpting with Mr. Gundlach, and Mrs. Curtis' class building community with team building activities.

It is truly hard to capture all the great things that are happening in the building! We are busy, busy, busy each and everyday! We love volunteers and are excited when our parents are able to stop by and work in our building. You are welcome to help in classrooms, the library, specials and you could even be a guest reader during our lunch time reader's theater! Stop by the office and fill out a volunteer form! We can't wait to have your help!
