DOLLARWAY MATTERS CAMPUS NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2019: STUDENTS, PARENTS & COMMUNITY

SUPERINTENDENT'S CORNER

Season's Greetings Dollarway Family,

Although we are nearing the end of a semester (2 weeks left), we see these final days as precious moments that we have to continue planting seeds of knowledge and instruction in our students. We want our families to rest assured that in the process of enjoying holiday preparations, we remain focused on student growth and achievement to keep moving the aims of our district forward and we are putting the hearts and minds of our students first. A lot of learning can happen in two weeks - and it should! A highlight to the end of the year, is our "Evening with the Arts" annual holiday program. Please make plans to join us (see flyer below) Thursday, Dec. 12th, 6:00pm at the Dollarway High School (Gym) located at 2602 Fluker St. This year's theme is "Christmas Around the World". This is a free and entertaining family event, where we celebrate the joys of the holiday season, as our children share and display their many talents. And finally, tune into Delta Plex Radio 101.3 KDPX "Voice of the Delta" @ 8:00am, every second Friday, to listen as I share highlights and relevant information concerning our district & community. Thank you for listening. Wishing a Very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and your families!!!

As a result of the invitation 145 tickets were redeemed as parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles came out to share a delicious meal with their student(s). The dining services staff at JMES prepared a wonderful, traditional Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings. Dollarway wishes to thank all the families for their participation and support.

Coach Jones & EAST students, along with Ms. Dale and other Dollarway staff, coordinated with the local women's shelter to cater and serve a Thanksgiving meal to a number of its residents. Students were enthusiastic about the opportunity to prepare and share a delicious meal to women who have faced many challenges. The meal was provided by donations to the EAST "Change War" fundraising campaign.
