To do in Åkrafjorden

Fjords, waterfall, climbing, bungee jumping and hiking are just some of the things to see and do when visiting beautiful Åkrafjord.

A 1,5-hour drive from Haugesund brings you there. Get ready to experience the contrasts in the fjord.

On your way you should visit Unni Marie Rosemaling in Ølen. Here you will find a broad range of products decorated with the traditional «rosemaling». According to Unni Marie there are no limits of what can be painted with Rosemaling, and by visiting her place you will for sure experience that.

And if you get hungry on the way you will find delicious food at Fugl Fønix Hotel in Etne or at Åkrafjordtunet in Åkrafjorden.

When arriving in Åkrafjord a must see is Langfoss waterfall, which was voted one of the world’s most beautiful by CNN.

The waterfall drops 600 metres down to the fjord below.

You can admire the waterfall from the side of the road or board a fjord cruise to get an even better view. From the fjord cruise you get so close to the waterfall that you can fill a cup and drink the fresh water from it!

If you are into a more active experience, then you can hike to the top of the waterfall.

It’s a demanding hike, and the roundtrip takes about 4 hours.

But at the top you will be rewarded with stunning view of the fjord.

Åkrafjorden offers a broad range of exciting activities. If you seek an adrenalin rush you should try bungee jumping from Trolljuv Bridge. Imagine standing there with the fjord 115 metres beneath you, before you exit the ramp and feel the adrenalin rush through your body.

Or maybe you are more into climbing? Via Ferrata Kyrkjeveggen is one of the longest Via Ferrata routes in Norway. The route is primarily on rock surface. In more challenging parts steps and holds have been installed for easier access. From the start (Innsteget) 50 MAMSL to the top shelf (Topphylla) 550 MAMSL the route is approximately 900 meters long.

Want to do something exotic and different? Go on a tractor safari to Eikemo Farm. Visit the place where “nobody would believe that someone could live”. Note that this tour only takes place upon special request, or upon registration of at least 10 people.

Lunch with a view at Eljarvik Gard
