Diego Sedano (Mexico City, 1963). Director, photographer and producer with +30 year experience in TV and documentary production. He was co-founder of Channel 3, a TV station in Morelos, Mexico, and for five years he directed documentary series about that state, creating the Cultural and History Archives of the original towns of Morelos.
During the 90’s Diego shot and directed documentaries for the two main TV stations in Mexico and for the Educational TV channel of the Education Ministry of the Mexican Government.
In 2000 was aired his first documentary for the series Mexico Nuevo Siglo, the main Mexican History series; for four years he produced several pieces for this project.
In 2004 Diego moved to Los Angeles, where he currently lives. There he founded Malaespina Producciones, a TV and documentary production company. In the US he has produced documentaries about the housing crisis in Los Angeles; the cultural life of Mexican immigrant communities, and the immigration rights movement in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas and D.C.
Malaespina has focused in advertising production for Spanish-language TV, and journalistic reporting. In recent years Diego has documented migration in the states of Chiapas, Jalisco, Baja California and Mexico City, and in the Mexico-US borderlands.
In most of his pieces Diego likes to do the camera work himself.
