Your Voice December edition

Paul's Welcome

Welcome to December’s edition of “Your Voice”! Thanks again to the EEF team for their support in pulling this together each month, I know how much time and effort goes into this.

Only a couple of days before we break for the festive period, I for one am certainly looking forward to some time out with my family and friends. As I’ve said a number of times recently, we have had a great year on many fronts:

  • We’ve over delivered against our budget and it was lovely to receive the note today from Richard Timmins recognising this fantastic achievement
  • Over the last 12 months, we’ve extended the service that we deliver to Santander including S5/S6 recruitment, apprenticeships and Sova assessments to name a few
  • We’ve continued to build stronger and deeper relationships across HR and the business, we have more work to do here, but we have great foundations in place
  • Finally, I’ve been delighted to see how well we’ve all worked together as one team. I’m proud to be part of the Santander recruitment team and look forward to continuing to develop our strong team ethos across the account

All that remains for me to say is that I hope that you all have a fabulous Christmas / New Year break and I look forward to seeing you all in 2017!

The Retail Volume team in the spotlight

This month we put Tracey-Ann and Indi from the Retail Volume Team in the spotlight keep scrolling to see what they said.

1) Describe your life as a movie title?

TA - How to bake love in a lifetime

Indi - Finding nemo

2) What did you imagine your ideal job would be when you were a child?

TA - As a child, I loved to bake with my Mother and dreamt one day I would have a gorgeous tea-room, serving decadent cakes and afternoon tea. Although I did not choose that career path, I do still love to bake and take pride in not just how it tastes, but the presentation too and love to create my own bespoke pieces of pleasure for my friends and family.

Indi - I had 3. A princess. A hair dresser. A teacher

3) What’s the best aspect of your role today?

TA - My role is so varied, with no 2 days being the same which means I am always learning something new

Indi - The building of relationships and meeting stakeholders and enhancing those relationships

4) Who’s been the biggest influence in your life?

TA - The influences in my life have been all my friends and family, not just the 1, to create positivity, harmony and to live life. I am naturally drawn to positive people who inspire me to be a better person

Indi - My Partner

5) If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you’d buy?

TA - A private plate ‘ART1ST’ for my partner Keni Kennedy who is an internationally recognised professional artist, along with a private gallery on Bond Street with a studio above.

Indi - Aston Martin (a nice 1 lol)

Movers & Shakers

New Joiners

This month we have welcomed two new joiners to the account:

Carlton Schoburgh joined the Head Office Specialist team...
...and Dorota Kepa joined the Emerging Talent team!
Charities & CSR

On Tuesday 6th December some of the Santander London team joined fellow AMS colleagues in Walking Home for Christmas to raise money for Walking With The Wounded. This charity supports all veterans with physical, mental or social injury to gain the skills and qualifications necessary to re-integrate into society, develop new careers outside the military and provide long-term security for themselves and their families.

Rox, Teresa, Sally, Michelle, Nadine, Rachel, Katy, Dominic and Helen all walked from our Bishopsgate office to The Royal Hospital in Chelsea, Home of the Chelsea Pensioners where they were greeted with Mince Pies, carols and mulled wine.

The total raised was £1,368.50 which is a fantastic effort. If you haven’t donated there is still time to do so here

Below are some photos of the ‘Walking With the Wounded’ Charity event. It’s like a Santa version of Where’s Wally – can you find our team from the pictures?

Your Management Challenge

As you are aware we challenged the Managers to do Dry January as their management challenge.

Please don’t forget to sponsor them here

AMS Volunteer Days

Have you used yours yet? Check out the below sources of ideas where you can find some great ways to do something for charity:

  • UK’s national volunteering database
  • Centrum Wolontariatu (The Volunteer Centre, Poland)

It’s clearly not an exhaustive list, so please do share any volunteering websites you have come across to the Global Citizenship Yammer group and if you are planning to do something amazing ensure you log it in Workday as volunteer leave.

20km Winter Walking

We are looking to see if anyone would like to lead a team of AMS'ers on a 20km invigorating & fully supported walk of London on Sunday 15th January. It would support raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. More info found here -

R&R... My favourite time of year is here! Eating, drinking, family and friends time. Whether you love it or hate it, Christmas time is a great opportunity to finally let go and take some time back for you and what is most important to you.

Rest is one of the most important factors in our busy lives, and possibly the least recognised. Rest during the festive period can take many different forms for a lot of us, but mostly it's about time away from work. Take your time in the gym and eating all the naughty things, a glass of your favourite tipple with loved ones, or just simply some quiet time alone! And lets not forget about the S word.... sleep!

Whatever it is you enjoy doing, take your time! 2017 is just around the corner, let’s see out 2016 with a bang!

Training & Development

AMS EDGE is our global development framework that supports us all to be the best we can be. All content is hosted on our Learning Management System which you can access here.

Looking to progress to a manager role within Alexander Mann Solutions? You can register now to the new Inclusive Leadership Virtual training sessions on EDGE.

If you haven’t already, don’t forget to complete the additional Santander LMS Training – Code of Conduct Rules and Whistleblowing – by 31 December.

We know it’s sometimes hard to attend off site training with the demands of your roles. So make sure you let us know if there are courses you would prefer to attend virtually and we’ll suggest this to the EDGE team.

Give us your feedback - If you’ve attended a course we want to share your experience with the team to help them decide whether they too could benefit from attending in the future. Please email
