Director of Athletics, 2013-Present
As Director of Athletics, I am responsible for providing administrative direction and oversight for all athletic programs at Bishop McCort Catholic High School. In doing so, it is my job to ensure compliance with Board, PIAA, league policies and regulations and with state and federal laws. It is my job to administer funds and accounts in a fiscally responsible manner and sustain a culture of sportsmanship, professionalism, and respect at all levels.
Noteworthy: Oversaw the addition of a wrestling program & new practice complex (2016), Launched a new athletic web site (2014), Resurfaced the main gym floor for the first time since the late 1970s (2014), Restructured the school’s coach certification program (2014)
Prior to becoming Athletic Director in 2013, I performed a number of ancillary jobs for Bishop McCort. With the exception of coaching, I still perform many aspects of the duties listed below as the school’s Director of Athletics.
Assistant Football Coach (2006-2013)
Assisted head coach during games and practices, Managed film and video technology, Researched and purchased new equipment, Designed and directed strength and conditioning programs, Coordinated the 7th and 8th grade football transition from the parochial league to two separate Bishop McCort teams (2010)
Wellness Center Coordinator (2010-2013)
Scheduled practices and workouts, Coordinated a student work-study program, Ensured cleanliness, Communicated with alumni regarding usage, Facilitated a preventative maintenance agreement with G&G Fitness (2012), Created and implemented the school's first work-study program (2010)
Director of Parochial Athletics (2010-2013)
Scheduled athletic events and PIAA officials, Prepared facilities for games and practices, Directed adult and student workers, Maintained league finances, Oversaw creation of the Catholic Football League (2011)
Director of Digital Communications, 2013-Present
- Responsible for managing Bishop McCort's online presence, including online image management and the development of strategies to build and strengthen the online brand. Additionally, it is my job to produce social media communications through development of content for the school’s Facebook and Twitter pages, monitor relevant blogs, launch interactive platforms and assist staff with social media needs. In doing so, I am required to create and install videos, audio slideshows, QR codes, wallpapers, and other multimedia items; assist with departmental presentations, as needed.
Noteworthy: Partnered with Edlio to re-design the academic web site (2016), Broadcasted the District VI Baseball Championship from an iPad (2014), Modeled a RebelMouse social media hub after Vanderbilt University (2014), Launched the school's first YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram accounts (2013)
Teacher, 2010 - Present
I am responsible for teaching a variety of Social Studies and Technology courses to grades nine through twelve. It is my job to challenge students with demanding lessons. In doing so, I incorporate technology to better assess academic growth and to create a dynamic learning environment that is inclusive to a wide array of learners.
My experience at McCort includes the creation of two new classes, Current Events and Digital Communications. Additionally, I played an integral role in reviving the school newspaper and transforming it into a digital format.
I have taught the following courses: World History, United States History I & II, Introduction to Microsoft Excel & Word, and Digital Communications.
Athletic Web Site
Seasonal Media Guides
Seasonal media guides are published in the fall, winter, and spring sport seasons. The publications highlight the Marching Band, Color Guard, and athletic teams. Moreover, student-athletes sell tribute ads that appear in the guides as one of the main athletic fundraisers. The comprehensive guides are created and printed at school. The final versions are available in both PDF & digital format
Athletic Game Notes
Game Notes are produced each week by the Bishop McCort Athletic Department. The notes contain schedules, rosters, projected lineups, series histories, statistical leaders, record, and special features.
