Glin Valley chicken is produced by Shannonvale, an Irish family business dedicated to the production and manufacture of quality poultry products. The O’Regan family origins in the poultry business can be traced back to the last century through generations of producers. The current management team are the fourth generation in the business. Glin Valley brand focuses on high quality, fully traceable, 100% Bord Bia approved Irish Chicken.

Throughout the last 100 years Shannonvale moved, altered and expanded its premises and today it is proud of its ultra-modern

facility at Clonakilty. The company is proud of its products, its place in the supply of poultry products in the country and its contribution to the local economy of Clonakilty. All products sold under the Glin Valley Brand is 100% Irish and Bord Bia approved.

The Bord Bia Poultry Products Quality Assurance Scheme is an integrated programme involving the producer and the processing plant working in partnership to provide the customer with quality assured product. The flock and production house is certified by Bord Bia. As part of the Bord Bia programme the essential quality assurance requirements for chicken production from farm level through factory processing to final dispatch are achieved to meet customer requirements.

Glin Valley Farm Our Story

I was born and reared on a farm in Co, Monaghan with a love of farming and animals. When I was very young I followed the hens everywhere singing to them to lay an egg for me! At eighteen I went to college to study poultry and from there on I worked in various aspects of the business – in hatcheries, breeders and with processors. In 1996 I availed of an opportunity to go to West Cork to work with Shannonvale Foods. My intention was to spend three months working with them but I met my husband there and now I’ve been supplying them for over 17 years!

Broilers became my passion - I’m very much at the forefront of animal welfare and from that moment the chicks arrive to the farm (within hours of hatching), we give them all the care and attention they need. They have plentiful supply of food and water, fresh comfortable bedding, good heat and lots of room to roam, all in a comfortable bio-secure area.

Nothing does my heart better than seeing them happily scratching and dust bathing. All these high standards contribute to my chickens being a top quality product. I know the work and commitment that Irish growers invest to produce top quality products.

All Shannonvale Foods all of the growers are Bord Bia registered and all adhere to their very high standards of excellence and traceability, so I’m proud to put my name on the pack as one of them, whilst employing one person part-time and involving a chain of local producers in the supply of products, from bedding shavings all the way to the feed mills
