Cultural identity is ethnicity and culture.

The ethnicity that this project is about is African American.

African Americans are originally from the Caribbean and Africa. They were brought to the United States and were made into slaves. Them being brought here created many new traditions and values to African American culture.
The African American commonly spoken language is Ebonics. It simply means black speech, this term was created in 1973 by black scholars who didn't like the way the negative connotations sounded when using black speech.
Skin color is the first major one usually if you are African American you have a darker skin tone. Hair is the second major distinct physical trait their hair is usually dark brown to black, coarse, coily , and/or frizzy.

African Americans are known to eat "soul food". Soul foods include biscuits, greens, black eyed peas, macaroni and cheese,mashed potatoes, etc.

The most known arts of African American heritage are rock art and sculptures. Sculptures can be found in many places around the world while rock art can be found in ancient old caves in Africa. One major sculptor that is known today is Edmonia Lewis . She started sculpting once she met Edward A. Brackett. Her art can be found at Howard University and some museums.

Music associated with African american culture is jazz, spirituals, soul, and hip hop.

Fact 1- In 1926, Carter G. Woodson established Negro History Week, which later became Black History Month. The month of February was chosen in honor of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, who were both born in that month.

Fact 2-Most people think of Rosa Parks as the first person to refuse to give up their seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. There were actually several women who came before her; one of whom was Claudette Colvin.
