Last Saturday was quite a celebration for the Senior Class of 2020. Much appreciation to our community partners who helped make this a reality. Church That Matters provided expertise in the ability to live stream through our YouTube Channel. Olivet Baptist Church provided bottles of water for participants, family and friends. Beau and Abbie Wilson provided a special touch of decoration to the stage. An army of our district employees, including Mike Bynum and our Maintenance Team, Tina Moses and our IT Team, Randy Evans and Jason Anderson from our FFA Department, and many, many others, provided much muscle and sweat setting the stadium up. BIG THANKS to all who made this celebration special!
I hope you all are enjoying your summer break! Now that graduation is complete, I feel like we have finally had closure to the 2019-20 school year. Now, we are in the middle of planning the logistics for the 2020-21 school year in the midst of the pandemic situation and have found a little clarity about how school will start next year. We have a committee that has been meeting consistently over the past several weeks to develop draft guidelines. More to come on this in the near future!
The Freshman Academy and STEM Center project is progressing beautifully. Check out the pictures below of the progress! We will be ready for students in August!
The Early Learning Center at ECEC for children of certified employees is set to open in August when teachers report back to work. There is still room to enroll your child who may need day care for the new year! Please contact Ms. Denys Gilman at denys.gilman@sandites.org for an enrollment form or for more information!
We have begun a live stream series on our Sandite Learning YouTube Channel called District Dialogue. Each Tuesday night at 7 pm this summer, we will be discussing different topics regarding school re-opening in August. Our hope is that patrons and parents engage with us in this virtual format to find out more about school during the 2020-21 school year. This Tuesday night, June 30, we will be discussing our Virtual Academy. Mr. Jay Rotert, Ms. Laura Hamilton and Ms. Angelia Noel will be discussing options for our parents. We understand there may be parents who are not ready to send their children to school amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and we are going to make sure we are ready to provide the best education to all children at Sand Springs Public Schools. Help us spread the word about our Tuesday night virtual forum and if you can, join in! We will have time for people to submit questions during the event!
Keep your smile on and your chin up! This COVID situation will not last forever and we will get through it all. Together we are strong and resilient. Have a great 4th of July weekend! ~Sherry
